The Memory House By Rachel Hauck

The Memory House

By Rachel Hauck

Embracing the future means remembering the past . . .
When Beck Holiday lost her father in the North Tower on 9/11, she also lost her memories of him. Eighteen years later, she’s a tough New York City cop burdened with a damaging secret, suspended for misconduct, and struggling to get her life in order. Meanwhile a mysterious letter arrives informing her she’s inherited a house along Florida’s northern coast, and what she discovers there will change her life forever. Matters of the heart only become more complicated when she runs into handsome Bruno Endicott, a driven sports agent who fondly recalls the connection they shared as teenagers. But Beck doesn’t remember that, either.
Decades earlier, widow Everleigh Applegate lives a steady, uneventful life with her widowed mother after a tornado ripped through Waco, Texas, and destroyed her new, young married life. When she runs into old high school friend Don Callahan, she begins to yearn for change. Yet no matter how much she longs to love again, she is hindered by a secret she can never share.
Fifty years separate the women but through the power of love and miracle of faith, they each find healing in a beautiful Victorian known affectionately as The Memory House.

My Thoughts:
The Memory House is a dual timeline story that tells the story of two women who have been impacted by loss and how their lives intersect with one anther which impacts them both forever. The storyline is unique from the pain of a tornado to loss of a father in one of the World Center Trade Towers, this story is sure to grab ahold of your heart. This story is filled with tragedy, faith, forgiveness, love and perseverance. Not only is this book about forgiveness and perseverance, but it's about second chances. This book is truly remarkable writing and will grab ahold of your heart and you will not be able to stop reading until the book is finished. Make sure to pre-order your copy today.

Glory Road by Lauren K. Denton

40590410Glory Road

Denton is a master at a character development and story progression. She weaves a beautiful story into characters with tension, laughter and romance. Numerous times, I felt like I was in the book and felt what the characters were experiencing. The garden shop made me feel warm on the inside and is something I've dreamed of having. This book is just a great read!
If you are looking for a book that has great characters, thick plot, southern charm and a bit of romance, this is the perfect read for you!

NIV, Maxwell Leadership Bible, 3rd Edition, Premium Bonded Leather, Burgundy, Comfort Print By John Maxwell

NIV, Maxwell Leadership Bible, 3rd Edition, Premium Bonded Leather, Burgundy, Comfort Print

By John Maxwell

Every believer is a person of influence. In the Maxwell Leadership Bible, leadership expert John C. Maxwell shows you the principles of leadership taught in God’s Word and how to use them. Whether you are an employee, a boss, a parent, or a neighbor, you are a person of influence in your part of the world. Throughout the pages of Scripture, John Maxwell has assembled the time-tested and irrefutable biblical principles of leadership to equip and encourage leaders with his signature approach, including the 21 Laws of Leadership, the 21 Qualities of a Leader, biographical profiles, and hundreds of notes.

My Thoughts:

John Maxwell is known for his amazing leadership and leadership principles. In the Maxwell Leadership Bible, the reader is going to receive a Bible with in-depth articles on leadership. This Bible contains the 21 Irrefutable Laws of leadership and the 21 Indispensable Qualities of a leader. You will also find many articles telling the events and times in many people of the Bible where God showed them His truth about the way they were leading. This has topical indexes as well on leadership.

the Bible is a beautiful burgundy soft leather Bible that has comfort print 10 point font. It lays flat and has a nice Burgundy ribbon to mark where you are reading. The read as you go notes are very nice in this Bible. I also found the biographical profiles make a great edition to this Bible as well to understand the places and timelines better. This would make a great college graduation gift. This is a beautiful Bible and I highly recommend it!

Courting Mr. Emerson by Melody Carlson

40391030Courting Mr. Emerson

I am a huge fan of Melody Carlson. Her books are novels that I can fly through in a day because they are just so good! Courting Mr. Emerson is a little bit of a different read as I had to adjust my mindset regarding the age of the romance between the characters. It wasn't the age that I had difficulty adjusting to, but more their lifestyle that I had to make the transition. Once I was able to make the transition, this was a quick and amazing read. I can't wait to read the next book by Melody. She is an awesome writer. Grab a copy today. You will love this one.

40392260Almost Home

Almost Home is my first read by Valerie Fraser Luesse and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! First, this book made me cry, which I don't often do with books and it was a good cry, so then their is that! Second, I felt that I was in the story the wholesome. The author has a knack for being an amazing story teller and weaving the reader throughout the book. The emotions, the in-depth characters from Daisy to Reed, I just loved this book! Between the romance, the friendships and even loss, this book is one you can't afford to miss or put down. I cannot wait to read more from Valerie. Bravo!

Hearts in Harmony By Beth Wiseman

Hearts in Harmony

By Beth Wiseman

They both love music. Will God deny what brings them such joy?
Musical prodigy Levi Shetler hasn’t touched a piano since he secretly played one years ago. His strict Amish community forbids instruments or the singing of any music not in their approved songbook. Levi asks God often why music tempts him when playing an instrument isn’t allowed in his world.
One person knows Levi’s talents: Mary Hershberger, the girl who promised years ago to keep his secret. Mary comes from a more liberal district than Levi, but she’s facing family troubles of her own. The mutual care for an aging Englischer, Adeline, reunites Mary and Levi as young adults. They realize that, despite their differences, they have a shared love of music—and a shared confusion about whether their talents are God-given gifts or temptations luring them into the Englisch world.
The couple realizes they must compromise or part ways, but a tragic accident shakes their decision. Both Mary and Levi will need to reconcile what they love with what their hearts say is right—because even as their passion for music brings them together, it could be what tears them apart.
The first novel in the new Amish Journeys series by bestselling author Beth Wiseman, Hearts in Harmony explores how far the heart will travel for the melody of love.
My Thoughts:
Hearts in Harmony is an amazing beginning to a new series from Beth Wiseman. She has a knack for writing about the Amish and weaving together a storyline that is unique, fun and even heart wrenching. The way she wrote this book is very unique to the genre and is something that I haven't read before, which made this book unique.
Character development in this story is fantastic. They are all likeable and believable with a uncharacteristic storyline that made the characters even more interesting. You will like Levi and Mary. They will feel like good friends at the end of this book.
Overall, this was a great Amish read! If you're looking for a good book, I highly recommending picking up Hearts in Harmony! You will not be disappointed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to write a review. All opinions are mine.

Breakthrough: The Miraculous True Story of a Mother's Faith and Her Child's Resurrection by Joyce Smith,

Breakthrough: The Miraculous True Story of a Mother's Faith and Her Child's Resurrection

The impossible true story about the powerful impact of prayer that inspired the major motion picture starring Chrissy Metz, Topher Grace, Dennis Haysbert, and Josh Lucas.
My Thoughts:
Breakthrough is a true story that has been made into a movie, and shows the miracle and  power of prayer. I was excited to read this book because I was very inspired by the story of Joyce Smith son falling through the ice when his heart has stopped and she asked God to save him and heal his body.
This is a book that grabbed my attention and was an easy read. I could not stop reading it because the author did a great job sharing her faith throughout the story, while inviting the reader on the journey her family was on. The reader is able to clearly see the power of God and prayer throughout this story.
This story shares as a great encouragement and testimony to the power of prayer and that God is listening, miracles do exist and He does care of his children.
I enjoyed this book and felt that it was an easy, yet enjoyable read. I know you will enjoy it as well. Thank you to the publisher for providing a copy. A review was not required. #sponsoredbyfaithwords

Tour Stop: California Girls by Susan Mallery

39752830California Girls

The California sunshine’s not quite so bright for three sisters who get dumped in the same week…

Finola, a popular LA morning show host, is famously upbeat until she’s blindsided on live TV by news that her husband is sleeping with a young pop sensation who has set their affair to music. While avoiding the tabloids and pretending she’s just fine, she’s crumbling inside, desperate for him to come to his senses and for life to go back to normal.

Zennie’s breakup is no big loss. Although the world insists she pair up, she’d rather be surfing. So agreeing to be the surrogate for her best friend is a no-brainer—after all, she has an available womb and no other attachments to worry about. Except…when everyone else, including her big sister, thinks she’s making a huge mistake, being pregnant is a lot lonelier—and more complicated—than she imagined.

Never the tallest, thinnest or prettiest sister, Ali is used to being overlooked, but when her fiancĂ© sends his disapproving brother to call off the wedding, it’s a new low. And yet Daniel continues to turn up “for support,” making Ali wonder if maybe—for once—someone sees her in a way no one ever has.

But side by side by side, these sisters will start over and rebuild their lives with all the affection, charm and laugh-out-loud humor that is classic Susan Mallery.

My Thoughts:
California Girls is a heartwarming novel of three sisters who are facing personal challenges and heartbreak. These three sisters have different stories, but are strong women. Their characters are developed through the stories and they are relatable. Some of the women are more likable than others as the storyline is engaging and retable. At times I was disgusted with each of the sisters. I love the flaws and the real life behind each of these women. The story is emotional and the ending is positive.

Hope in the Hard Places: How to Survive When Your World Feels Out of Control by Sarah Beckman

40585392Hope in the Hard Places: How to Survive When Your World Feels Out of Control

My Thoughts:
Hope in the Hard Places is an uplifting book with stories that help the reader see hope when everything seems lost. This book is a great resource for someone going through a difficult season in life. Whether you find yourself dealing with an illness, relationship issue, physical ailment, aging parent or anything else, the author gives hope through the scriptures. I received a complimentary copy of this book and review was not required.

About the Author:
Sarah BeckmanSarah Beckman grew up the youngest of 14 children. As a young girl, her family endured much trial and the community gathered around her family—or came alongside—to provide for them in a very dark time when her Dad was hospitalized and they lost their family home. After her parents divorced, she watched her Mom love others, even in the midst of raising a bucket full of children as a single mom.

As an adult, Sarah experienced health trials of her own, which put her on the receiving end of help once again, as she faced bedrest and multiple back surgeries in just a few short years. During that time, Sarah also walked alongside three close family/friends who faced terminal illness.

Through her experiences on both sides of the bed, Sarah recognized the need for better information about just how to serve others who were experiencing significant trials in their life, whether it was cancer, death of a loved one, long-term illness or any other life-altering circumstance. There were lots of short articles or blog posts, but she was unable to find a comprehensive resource about how to help others effectively.

So she created one herself. Her own experience, coupled with interviews with over 50 people who faced all manner of trials, is woven together to create a guide like no other. Filled with practical advice, poignant stories, and loads of insight, you will never have to be uncertain about helping someone you care about when they're in need again.

More Than You Can Handle: When Life's Overwhelming Pain Meets God's Overcoming Grace by Nate Pyle

40589784More Than You Can Handle: When Life's Overwhelming Pain Meets God's Overcoming Grace

"God won't give you more than you can handle." This is one of the most common and least helpful reassurances floating around Christian circles. It is anything but biblical. The truth is that God does allow a lot more than we can handle. But why?

About the Author:
Nate PyleNate is an author, blogger and ordained pastor in the Reformed Church of America. He serves as the pastor of Christ's Community Church in Fishers, Indiana where he lives with his wife and son.

Never imagining himself to be a writer, Nate began blogging in 2011 to gain clarity around his own thinking on various topics, especially leadership and church. Quickly, Nate realized he was a unique voice in the blogosphere. Rooted deeply in Reformed theology, Nate's writing is laced with nuance and a pastoral posture that is markedly different than the major Reformed voices in the blogging circles. In a world defined by extremes, Nate is a refreshing voice that walks the fine line between extremes.
