Secrets at Cedar Cabin By Colleen Coble

Secrets at Cedar Cabin By Colleen Coble

From USA TODAY bestselling author Colleen Coble comes the third book in her beloved Lavender Tides series.
Her mother lied about her identity and her husband wasn’t who she thought he was—can Bailey even trust herself anymore?
Running for her life in the wake of her mother’s murder, Bailey Fleming escapes to the only place she can think of—a remote, dilapidated cabin in Lavender Tides. Intending to finally get to the truth behind the lies of her past, Bailey only finds more questions when bodies are discovered near her cabin hideout along with traces of a dangerous human trafficking ring. In an unlikely partnership with FBI agent Lance Phoenix, Bailey races to understand the mystery surrounding her life and circumstances before the murderer tracks her down.
Meanwhile, Lance is determined to rescue his sister, Ava, who was abducted after running away from home as a teenager. An unexpected lead brings him to the remote cabin, and he wonders if Bailey—with her suspicious past and strange connections to his sister’s case—is really who she claims to be and if she can somehow lead him to Ava.
Filled with Colleen Coble’s custom blend of suspense and romance, Secrets at Cedar Cabin takes us back to the evocative landscape of Washington’s coast where nothing is quite as it seems.

My Thoughts:
If you haven't read books by Colleen Coble, I highly recommend you do, especially if you like suspence, romance and great plot! This book is jammed packed with action, anticipation, details and book scenes that keep the reader engaged the whole way through. This is a book that I could not stop turning the pages and easily could have read in an entire sitting, but I had to take breaks in between for work and sleep.
The plot of this story will touch deep into your heart, especially with Bailey. I believe Colleen does a wonderful job at handling the topic and the reader will be left deeply emotionally touched.
What's even better, is that this book leaves the reader with some more questions in the end, which I love. It builds anticipation for the next novel in this series. All in all, this is a great novel to the Lavender Tides Series. It can be read as a standalone or as part of the series. Grab your copy today!

A Timeless Christmas

I really enjoyed reading this novel and hope to continue to read further novels by Hallmark. I am disappointed that paperback books are very hard to find from Hallmark and this was sent to me through Netgalley as I have to read it on my phone, but overall, I would continue to read more Hallmark novels. Hallmark, please make your novels widely available in store.
I give this book 5/5 stars.

BRUNCH AT BITTERSWEET CAFE TOUR

SYNOPSIS:
From the RITA Award–winning author of Five Days in Skye comes a sweet, romantic treat that will leave you hungry for more.
Baker and pastry chef Melody Johansson has always believed in finding the positive in every situation, but seven years after she moved to Denver, she can’t deny that she’s stuck in a rut. One relationship after another has ended in disaster, and her classical French training is being wasted on her night job in a mediocre chain bakery. Then the charming and handsome private pilot Justin Keller lands on the doorstep of her workplace in a snowstorm, and Melody feels like it’s a sign that her luck is finally turning around.
Justin is intrigued by the lively bohemian baker, but the last thing he’s looking for is a relationship. His own romantic failures have proven that the demands of his job are incompatible with meaningful connections, and he’s already pledged his life savings to a new business venture across the country?an island air charter in Florida with his sister and brother-in-law.
Against their better judgment, Melody and Justin find themselves drawn together by their unconventional career choices and shared love of adventure. But when an unexpected windfall provides Melody with the chance to open her dream bakery-café in Denver with her best friend, chef Rachel Bishop, she’s faced with an impossible choice: stay and put down roots with the people and place she’s come to call home . . . or give it all up for the man she loves.

My Thoughts:
Brunch at Bittersweet Café is one of my favorite books of 2019! Don’t miss this amazing read by Carla Laureano. I was absolutely in love with the characters, plot and storyline. From the beginning to the end, my heart was won over and I could not stop reading this book. I have had a difficult time with my love for reading, but Carla, was able to hook me back in through Melody and Justin. And if you are a romantic, the ski lodge scene was my favorite. I could not stop reading the book at this point. I am completely gushing over Justin!

This book is one of those books that I will read again and again because it was great! It is also second in the series to The Saturday Night Supper Club, but can be read as a stand alone.  I have recommended Brunch at Bittersweet Cafe to my book club because I loved it and want my girls to read this book. Even my husband wanted to know what kept me up till 2 am until I was finished.  If you haven’t read The Saturday Night Supper Club, I highly recommend reading that book as well. Carla Laureano is an author you cannot miss. I give this book 5/5 stars. Make sure to check out this book as well as this author.

Remarkable Hope: When Jesus Revived Hope in Disappointed People by Shauna Letellier

40697467Remarkable Hope: When Jesus Revived Hope in Disappointed People

Rediscover eight people in the Bible whose hopes and expectations went from disappointment to life-changing transformation through Jesus.

Remarkable Hope reveals a pattern of hope where individuals were surprised by Jesus in drastic ways after they placed their hope in him and were--at first--disappointed. Their stories show his work was rarely what they anticipated.

As we observe Christ's faithful commitment to these Biblical characters who hoped in him, we are wowed by his unseen plan. We are comforted by his orchestration of circumstances and revived by his enduring presence. Remarkable Hope helps us gladly declare, like the apostle Paul, that "our hope does not disappoint us."

My Thoughts:
At some point or another in our lives, we will all face disappointment, discouragement or loss of hope. How we face it and who we face it with, can be the game changer. Remarkable Hope is the kind of book that I love to read. It points the reader back to scripture.  What does it truly mean to put our hope, faith and trust in the Lord? And when it feels hopeless, is God really listening to our problems? Does He really care? I am in that season of life and I hope to move from it rather quickly, but if I have learned about this season, I have learned He is listening and more than ever, it is the place where I lean into Him deeper and further than before. Not only do I lean into Him, I stay obedient.
This book offers hope, gives the reader a place to park their fears and lean into the creator, the one who knows you deeply and loves you immeasurably! Grab Remarkable Hope! This is a fantastic book. Thank you to the publisher for providing a copy. A favorable review was not required. #Sponsoredbyfaithwords

Castle on the Rise

Book Description

“Enchanting and mesmerizing!” —PATTI CALLAHAN, New York Times bestselling author of Becoming Mrs. Lewis
A storied castle. A band of rebels.
A nation chasing a centuries-old dream of freedom.
And three women who rise above it all . . .
When Laine Forrester travels overseas to attend her best friend’s vineyard wedding, she expects to find the bride on the brink of a fairy-tale life. But after a series of unforeseen setbacks, it seems the storybook lives they’d imagined are suddenly ripping apart.
With hopes of resurrecting a happy ending, Laine agrees to accompany the newlyweds to the groom’s home in Ireland—never expecting she’d be the one drawn in by its wide-open moors, backroads bordering the Irish Sea, and a mysterious castle that dares to keep its secrets hidden.
From the storied streets of Dublin to the shores of the Emerald Isle, Laine is drawn in to the land and its rich history. The castle ruins whisper stories of Issy—a photojournalist battling through the 1916 Easter Rising, and Maeve—the castle’s lady of legend, fighting for survival through the 1798 rebellion that started it all.
Spanning more than two centuries, Castle on the Rise unites the legacy of three women who must risk mending the broken places within for life, love, and the belief that even through the depths of our pain, a masterpiece of a story can emerge.
“Castle on the Rise perfectly showcases rising star Kristy Cambron’s amazing talent! Perfect pacing, lovely prose, and an intricate plot blend together in a delightful novel I couldn’t put down. Highly recommended!” —Colleen Coble, USA TODAY bestselling author of Secrets at Cedar Cabin and the Rock Harbor series
“Cambron’s latest is one of her best. Gripping and epic, this intricately woven tale of three generations seeking truth and justice will stay with you long after the last page.” —Rachel Hauck, New York Times bestselling author
My Thoughts:
Kristy Cambron continues to amaze me with her unique gift to write multiple story lines within a book through separate time periods and keep the reader engaged. Not only was I engaged, the amount of detailed researched she has in this book is incredible! This book is beyond fascinating!
The characters in each of these time periods are incredible and I must say I think I loved Issy's storyline, especially the historical aspects. Just incredible! I also was swoon to the history of Ireland and the way Cambron invited me into the journey of the story. It is unreal.
I enjoyed this book and had a difficult time putting it down.

With this Pledge By Tamera Alexander

By Tamera Alexander

About:
History takes on vivid life in the stunning first full-length novel in bestselling author Tamera Alexander’s new 4-book Southern series… The Carnton Novels
What can a woman–a mere governess–do against the scourge of slavery?
.
Elizabeth “Lizzie” Clouston’s quietly held principles oppose those of the Southern Cause–but when forty thousand soldiers converge on the fields of Franklin, Tennessee, the war demands an answer. The Carnton home, where she is governess, is commandeered as a Confederate hospital; and Lizzie must summon fortitude to assist the military doctor with surgeries that determine life or death–even as she fears for the life of Towny, her fiancé and lifelong friend.
.
A young soldier’s dying words convey an urgent message that Lizzie promises to deliver, yet she knows little more than the boy’s first name. That same night, decorated Mississippi sharpshooter Captain Roland Ward Jones extracts a different promise from Lizzie: that she intervene should the surgeon decide to amputate. Even if it costs him his life.
.
Lizzie is nothing if not a woman of her word, earning the soldiers’ respect as she tends the wounded convalescing within Carnton’s walls. None is more admiring than Captain Jones, who doesn’t realize she is already pledged to another. But Captain Jones holds secrets of his own, which prove costly for Lizzie. Because a betrothed woman shouldn’t harbor feelings for a man other than her intended. Especially not when that man is a slave owner.
.
When Towny vanishes after a crushing battle in Nashville, Lizzie must confront the costs of war. And torn between love, principles, and promises made, she struggles to be true to her own heart while standing for what she knows is right–no matter the cost.

My Thoughts:

With this Pledge written by Tamera Alexander is an impressive historical fiction with detailed research. Between the battles, characters and even the letters are real. I was very impressed when I took a look at Tamera's website to find a entire PDF of her research and be surprised, she lays out some spoilers there too, but first make sure you read her book! Not back to the review, I was shocked and surprised at how detailed and in depth she went, but that made this book so rich in history.

Second, I am a huge fan of the character development and enjoy getting to know Elizabeth and Rowland. I loved seeing the bravery in Elizabeth as well as her flaws like the rest of us. I felt that Tamera did a great job at making the characters come to life in a real and tangible way. The characters were intritguing and I kept wanting to read the story to find out what was happening next.

I also thought the theme of this book was very good and I was asking myself some hard questions about leaning into God and trusting him. Overall, I thought this book was well- research, kept my attention and made me want to read more of the Carnton series. This was a great novel and I highly, highly encourage you to grab a copy, especially if you life historical fiction.

My Thoughts:
Go on an informative and in-depth video series for upper elementary school students through the Old and New Testament. The creator of Veggie Tales, Phil Vischer has created a series of characters that go through scripture.

Both of these books contain 60 coloring pages that at perforated with Bible verses that are ESV or NLT. The pages are filled with characters, scenes with scripture of just Bible verses. I love how even though these are pages to be colored, they come to life through the characters. This would be a great curriculum to use for children at pre-school or even at a church.  I really think you will like this for your children.
