Take the Day Off: Receiving God's Gift of Rest
About:
Rest your mind, body, and spirit and focus on God's principles for keeping the Sabbath with this helpful guide from bestselling author Robert Morris.
A constant stream of busyness can slowly wear away at us over time: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Yet believers often forget that taking a day of rest is one of the Ten Commandments! When we don't give our minds and emotions a break, our will to make good choices can often become compromised. Resting is also important to those around you. If you have a weary soul, you can't pour yourself into others at home, work, or wherever you are. It's vital--you must take the day off. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #454545}

My Thoughts:
Take the Day Off: Receiving God's Gift of Rest by Robert Morris is exactly the book I need to read and read again this season of my life. God has definitely put me in a season of rest, which has been difficult, but also refreshing. This book is perfect for this season and has put a good perspective on what I am going through.
Pastor Morris says over and over again in this book it is difficult for us to "just be." This statement is so true for my life. When I am praying and listening to God, I feel that I need to be doing something, rather then being. In the world and culture we live in, we get our identity in the things we do, not by "just being" in the presence of God and I loved this book for it. It made me realize I had a wrong defination of "just being" and I wasn't looking to God for his definition, but the worlds. This book gave me a different view on rest and helped me see it through the lens of Jesus.
If you are burned out and weary, looking to understand rest, this book is a great gift of understanding what that means! I really enjoyed reading this book!
