They Call Me Mom: 52 Encouraging Devotions for Every Moment by Michelle Medlock Adams (Goodreads Author), Bethany Jett

They Call Me Mom: 52 Encouraging Devotions for Every Moment

When women take on the role of mom, they take on a hundred other titles as well: healer, comforter, chef, teacher, cheerleader--and less flattering jobs such as disciplinarian, ruiner of fun times, and chief worrier. In the middle of juggling all those roles, finding room to spend time alone seeking God can seem insurmountable.

Michelle Medlock Adams is an award-winning journalist and best-selling author, with close to 4 million books sold. Since graduating with a journalism degree from Indiana University, Michelle has written more than 1,500 articles for newspapers, magazines, and websites; helped pen a New York Times Bestseller; written more than 90 books; acted as a TV host for TBN’s “Joy In Our Town”; and served as a blogger for Guideposts. Today, she is co-owner and President of Platinum Literary Services—a premier full-service literary firm—and a speaker at many women’s events and writers conferences across the United States. Michelle is married to her high school sweetheart, Jeff, and they have two daughters, two sons-in-law, two granddaughters and one grandson. When not writing or teaching, she enjoys bass fishing, cheering on the Chicago Cubbies, and rooting for Indiana University Sports teams

Misleading Miss Verity (Regency Brides: Daughters of Aynsley #3) by Carolyn Miller

Misleading Miss Verity

(Regency Brides: Daughters of Aynsley #3)

Verity Hatherleigh has a mind of her own—but her actions do not impress her viscount papa. When she gets into one scrape too many, he sends her off to the wilds of Scotland to rethink her headstrong ways.
Anthony Jardine relished his role as curate, but his new duties as laird of Dungally aren’t always to his liking. Though he thought his new inheritance would be a blessing, somehow he’s finding nothing but trouble on these estates. And the intelligent, compassionate, feisty lass who was sent to rusticate in his territory is one of the biggest problems. He’s falling in love with her, but she doesn’t share the faith that’s his foundation—not to mention he’s been lying to her about who he really is. For the truth-loving Verity, that may be unforgivable.
have woven may spell disaster for their happiness—and for the tenants of Dungally.

My Thoughts:
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I spent time reading a lot of books and Misleading Miss Verity was one that I adored! This is my favorite book out of the Regency Brides by Carolyn Miller. Verity is a hoot! She is her own person and very determined. She is not afraid to face the music of her actions and she is just a delight of a character. I love her! And, Anthony, he is a character. The plot will keep your interest and is one that is moving.
This is a fantastic series and I am sad that this one is finished. I know that you will enjoy it. I cannot wait to read more books from Carolyn. This series can be read as a standalone, but is much more enjoyable when you read as a series. I recommend this entire series.

The Promises of God Storybook Bible: The Story of God's Unstoppable Love

44092372. sx318 The Promises of God Storybook Bible: The Story of God's Unstoppable Love

Noah’s ark. Joseph’s dreams. Jesus’s miracles. The Bible is rich with stories for our children to hear and enjoy, but when those stories uncover the thread of God’s promises, our children learn much more than individual Bible stories. They discover how God has demonstrated His love for us, from the first promise in the garden to the promise of the new heavens and earth.

A conversational, whimsical, biblically faithful retelling of more than fifty key Bible stories, The Promises of God Storybook Bible lets your child hear favorite stories with new ears, repeatedly assuring them that each word is proof of God’s unstoppable love and unbreakable promises to His people.

My Thoughts:

The Promises of God Storybook Bible: The Story of God's Unstoppable Love is one of the most beautifully illustrated children's Bible I have ever seen. This book has over 50 Bible stories and is a beautiful book of text with illustration to keep your little one interested in the Bible story. The illustrations are colorful and eye catching. As an adult, I am very impressed with this Bible.

The Promises of God Storybook Bible is a perfect for young readers as a devotional because the length of each story is perfect for those little ones who have shorter attention spans. It's also great to put your children to bed with.

I love that this book is hardcover too. It will stand the test of time. The questions at the end of each story are perfect for discussion with your children. I highly recommend this Story Bible for your child!

Healing the Soul of a Woman Devotional: 90 Inspirations for Overcoming Your Emotional Wounds

43886099Healing the Soul of a Woman Devotional: 90 Inspirations for Overcoming Your Emotional Wounds

Receive healing for your emotional wounds and discover your destiny as God's daughter with this 90-day devotional by internationally renowned Bible teacher Joyce Meyer.

Healing the Soul of a Woman delved deeply into Joyce Meyer's personal story and the journey of healing for all women. Despite suffering from years of abuse, abandonment, and betrayal by those closest to her, Joyce firmly believes a woman who has been deeply hurt by life's circumstances can be healed, heart and soul. Her steadfast claim comes from living her own journey of soul healing, and from seeing so many women who don't believe they can fully overcome their pain--or even know where to begin--find the guidance they need in the life-changing wisdom of the Bible.
Now, in this companion devotional, Joyce will guide you through 90 daily readings to encourage you through whatever obstacles may be holding you back from finding your true destiny. God can heal your pain, and He wants to do this in you. Let HEALING THE SOUL OF A WOMAN DEVOTIONAL be an inspiration in your journey toward the wonderful, joyful future God has planned for you.

My Thoughts:
Healing the Soul of a Woman Devotional: 90 Inspirations for Overcoming Your Emotional Wounds is a perfect companion to Joyce's new book. I thought her book was great and this devotional iterates those ideas and truths to the reader.

Every devotional begins with a verse or an inspiration quote followed by a devotional that is the same message as her book. She also has a declare this statement, which I really loved. Her devotionals are personal and honest, which as the reader are super encouraging. This devotional covers a multitude of topics including, freedom, identity, shame, guilt free living,  forgiveness, trust and faith.

I love the size of this devotional because I can stick it in my purse or work bag. This is a practical, but purposeful devotional book! I highly recommend this as a great gift book. In fact, I purchased this for my mom.

A Distance Too Grand (American Wonders Collection, #1) by Regina Scott

43838168. sy475 A Distance Too Grand (American Wonders Collection, #1)

A Distance too Grand is a historical novel that takes the main character through the lens of a camera on an adventure where her life is about getting the perfect shot, one that calls her to hang over the edge of the largest Canyon. While this book is adventurous, historical and a page turner, it also is charming with love stories abounding of sweetness and enduring hardships. Through Meg, we are able to see the side of adventure through the lens of her camera and the beauty of the country. The characters will keep your attention and so will the plot this book. I really enjoyed this Historical Fiction, more than I had anticipated. I recommend this book! You will enjoy it.

About the Author:
Regina ScottRegina Scott started writing novels in the third grade. Thankfully for literature as we know it, she didn't actually sell her first novel until she had learned a bit more about writing such as vocabulary, sentence structure, and plot. After numerous short stories and articles in magazines and trade journals, she got serious about her novel writing. The Unflappable Miss Fairchild was her first novel to be published (March 1998).

Besides her novels, Regina Scott has had published three Regency novellas ("The June Bride Conspiracy" in His Blushing Bride, "Sweeter Than Candy" in A Match for Mother, and "A Place by the Fire" in Mistletoe Kittens). Two of her novels, A Dangerous Dalliance and The Twelve Days of Christmas, have been translated into German. A Dangerous Dalliance and The Incomparable Miss Compton have been translated into Italian. Starstruck and Perfection have been translated into Dutch.

Regina Scott and her husband are the parents of two sons. They reside in the Tri-Cities of southeast Washington State and are members of the Church of the Nazarene. Born in 1959 and raised in the Seattle area, Regina Scott is a graduate of the University of Washington. She comes by her writing talent naturally--both her parents are excellent writers in their vocations as teacher and electrical technician. Her mother envisioned the plot for "Sweeter Than Candy," the novella which was written as a tribute to her.

Regina Scott is a devout Christian and a decent fencer; owns a historical, fantasy, and science fiction costume collection that currently takes up over a third of her large closet; and has been known to impersonate an independent consultant specializing in risk communication.
