A Distance Too Grand (American Wonders Collection, #1) by Regina Scott

43838168. sy475 A Distance Too Grand (American Wonders Collection, #1)

A Distance too Grand is a historical novel that takes the main character through the lens of a camera on an adventure where her life is about getting the perfect shot, one that calls her to hang over the edge of the largest Canyon. While this book is adventurous, historical and a page turner, it also is charming with love stories abounding of sweetness and enduring hardships. Through Meg, we are able to see the side of adventure through the lens of her camera and the beauty of the country. The characters will keep your attention and so will the plot this book. I really enjoyed this Historical Fiction, more than I had anticipated. I recommend this book! You will enjoy it.

About the Author:
Regina ScottRegina Scott started writing novels in the third grade. Thankfully for literature as we know it, she didn't actually sell her first novel until she had learned a bit more about writing such as vocabulary, sentence structure, and plot. After numerous short stories and articles in magazines and trade journals, she got serious about her novel writing. The Unflappable Miss Fairchild was her first novel to be published (March 1998).

Besides her novels, Regina Scott has had published three Regency novellas ("The June Bride Conspiracy" in His Blushing Bride, "Sweeter Than Candy" in A Match for Mother, and "A Place by the Fire" in Mistletoe Kittens). Two of her novels, A Dangerous Dalliance and The Twelve Days of Christmas, have been translated into German. A Dangerous Dalliance and The Incomparable Miss Compton have been translated into Italian. Starstruck and Perfection have been translated into Dutch.

Regina Scott and her husband are the parents of two sons. They reside in the Tri-Cities of southeast Washington State and are members of the Church of the Nazarene. Born in 1959 and raised in the Seattle area, Regina Scott is a graduate of the University of Washington. She comes by her writing talent naturally--both her parents are excellent writers in their vocations as teacher and electrical technician. Her mother envisioned the plot for "Sweeter Than Candy," the novella which was written as a tribute to her.

Regina Scott is a devout Christian and a decent fencer; owns a historical, fantasy, and science fiction costume collection that currently takes up over a third of her large closet; and has been known to impersonate an independent consultant specializing in risk communication.

She Prays: A 31-Day Journey to Confident Conversations with God by Debbie Lindell, Lisa Harper

She Prays: A 31-Day Journey to Confident Conversations with God

One of the most wonderful things about walking with God is that we can have an intimate and real relationship with him. He wants us to know him so well that we are comfortable talking to him about anything and everything. Yet, there are times when we feel disconnected and insecure. We desire to grow in prayer, but we don't know where to begin, what to say, or how to listen for his voice.
In She Prays, Debbie Lindell invites you on a 31-day journey to experience a confident and conversational relationship with your heavenly Father. She shows you how to replace the pressure to perform in prayer with a faith-filled expectation--trusting that God is delighted with every conversation and every word we whisper to him. Her desire is that your soul will be transformed as your confidence in prayer grows, and that your faith will be strengthened as you see God work through your prayers in ways you never imagined possible.

My Thoughts:
She Prays is a 31 Day Journey through conversations with God through prayer. This book is a great little book about developing your prayer life, but what I love about this book is that it isn't difficult and it is very simple. While this book is simple on prayer, it gets to the heart of prayer, which is about the heart of the individual seeking the Lord. This book also is perfect to read as a daily devotional as it isn't long and the chapters are short. I love this little book. She Prays would be an awesome gift and the cover is so inviting. I highly recommend this book. It will help change your prayer life!

When God Says Wait: A Devotional Thought Journal by Elizabeth Laing Thompson

44025166When God Says Wait: A Devotional Thought Journal

A job, a true love, a baby, a cure. . .
We’re all waiting for something from God.
And the place between His answers can feel like a wasteland where dreams—and faith—go to die.
When we’re waiting, we wonder, “Why?”, “Why me?”, and “How long?”

This is a beautiful, hardcover devotional that is written from Elizabeth Laing Thompson's book title When God Says, Wait. This devotional book is awesome and is perfect for the season I am in, especially since I loved the book When God Says Wait. This devotional book has a generous amount space to dialogue with God about your prayers, thoughts and feelings regarding the devotional. This devotional has great thought provoking questions and thoughts that guided my prayers and feelings, which I really enjoyed. I loved the journal prompts and it also has a beautiful dark pink ribbon marker. I really love this devotional and have found it to be perfect for this season of my life. This is a great gift and is perfect for someone who is going through a difficult trial. I highly recommend this book.

Dare to See: Discovering God in the Everyday by Katie Brown

43522623Dare to See: Discovering God in the Everyday

Dare to See was an awesome and easy autobiography/ memoir that I was able to read in two sitting. Katie is an author that writes from her heart through a series of essays based on her own life experiences. She writes topically, which makes reading this book super fun and conversational. I feel as though she is sitting across the table from me. This book could be read as devotional, especially with the way the chapters are divided.

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was an easy, but enjoyable read. This would make a great gift or a devotional. Thank you to the publisher for providing this book. #sponsoredbyfaithwords

Garden of Faith: A 365-Day Devotional Journal (365 Devotional Journals)

Garden of Faith: A 365-Day Devotional Journal

Growing in faith can be difficult if you don't have deep roots to strengthen or nourish you. These daily devotions provide biblical wisdom to help readers cultivate a purposeful life full of courage, faith, and love. The journaling lines are the perfect place to praise God's beautiful creation, reflect on the day's Scripture reading, or record prayers and dreams.

My Thoughts:
Garden of Faith is a 356 daily devotional journal that helps the reader focus on God daily through a time of surrendering time and putting God first and then writing down in the space provided how God is talking to the reader. This devotional is a soft cover, but is very sturdy. I love Ellie Claire brand of devotionals because they are sturdy devotionals that I can look back through the years and see how God has moved through areas in my life. Their devotional journals also have ribbon markers, which I love. The space provided to write is perfect because I think it is adequate space between the devotional and writing. These devotional journals are great gift items. I highly recommend picking up Garden of Faith today! This is an awesome devotional to keep your eyes fixed on God's creation.

I Am Redeemed: Learning to Live in Grace by Mike Weaver, Jim Scherer

I Am Redeemed: Learning to Live in Grace

Mike Weaver, lead singer of Big Daddy Weave, shares from personal experience how when all we can see is our struggles and failures, God reminds us of who we are. . . . His children. Loved. Set free. Redeemed.
46114616I Am Redeemed is an open book of Mike Weaver's life, bringing into the light everything from his battle with self-hatred to the near death of his brother and bandmate, who ultimately had both feet amputated to save his life. Mike shares the lessons learned in the loss of his father and dealing with the spirit of suicide within his band, Big Daddy Weave.
At the lowest of lows, with Mike feeling rejected and alone, God broke through to speak truth and life into him. Thankful for God's plan and timing and methods, he is especially grateful for the new identity Jesus had paid for on the cross. In spite of his faults and failures, Mike learned that only God can take the stuff you hate about yourself and use it to reach people.

A Redesigned Life: Uncovering God's Purpose When Life Doesn't Go as Planned

The very existence of HGTV, the DIY movement, and Pinterest proves we love great design. We adore plans and perfectly staged rooms. But what happens when we discover we are living a life we did not design? When our dreams lie in tatters or when we experience loss of any kind? What happens when life feels like one big Pinterest fail? Where is God in the midst of what doesn't make sense? Does he care?
