Live The Let Go Life: God's Will For A Carefree Lifestyle! by Joseph Prince

Live The Let Go Life: God's Will For A Carefree Lifestyle!

Do you have a job that has a never ending to do list? Do you feel that you will never achieve a stress free life? Is letting go one of those things you've intended to do, but never actually done it? Is that nagging feeling eating you alive because in the pit of your stomach you live in constant anxiety? Everyday life is difficult, our culture is difficult and so is our time period, but isn't anymore difficult than the time that Jesus lived in, nor his disciples. They lived in a difficult time as well. This is a book that will help your breath a little lighter and find ways to combat areas where stress lives. I love how it helps you figure out and design how God created you to be. This book is relatable and it's authentic. Joseph Prince writes with authority and he's relatable. I enjoyed this book and feel that the rest of the world could learn from ways of handling stress and anxiety through him. You aren't going to live a stress free life style, but you can learn how to manage it better and differently. I think this book should be recommend for all American's particularly all college students as this is a stressful time in their life. I didn't not agree with all of his writing, but I thought for the majority, it was written very well. I give this book a 4/5 stars. A favorable review was not required. Thank you the publishers for providing a complimentary copy for review.

Embracing The Race: 40 Devotions for the Runner's Soul by Lisa Preuett

Embracing The Race: 40 Devotions for the Runner's Soul

"Embrace the Race" is the perfect devotional for any runner. As a marathon runner, this book is perfect for those who are looking to be physically fed, but also spiritually. It is a devotional that I found to be helpful in motivation when I didn't feel like exercising, but also inspiring whether you're a runner who has ran your first 5k race or your 10th marathon. It doesn't matter whether you're a novice runner or an Olympic runner, this devotional is for you! I loved the "Ready, Get Set, Go" challenges in this devotional. Each devotional starts out with a Bible verse, followed by some kind of running analogy that has depth and meaning to it as it relates to the Christian life. What I love is that it calls the runner to application, which is what runners do. They apply things to their life, or they wouldn't be out running. I love how transparent Lisa is about her running and when she often refers to herself as being in the "back of the pack," I often think of myself that way too. I think we would be running together, and we all are running this race together as Christians. Thank you to the author for providing a complimentary copy. A favorable review was not required. I give this devotional 5/5 stars.

Hometown Girl by Courtney Walsh

Hometown Girl

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Courtney Walsh returns with a hopeful and emotional new book about seizing second chances, finding yourself, and forging your own path.

Beth Whitaker isn’t supposed to be a small-town girl. She’s always dreamed of leaving Willow Grove, Illinois, for the big city, but she feels trapped, struggling to make up for a mistake that’s haunted her for years. Just when Beth is finally ready to break free, her sister impulsively buys a beloved but run-down farm on the outskirts of town, and she begs Beth to help with the restoration. Reluctantly, Beth agrees to help—and puts her own dreams on hold once again.

Drew Barlow hasn’t been back to Fairwind Farm since he was a boy, and he’s spent all these years trying to outrun the pain of a past he thought he buried long ago. When he learns that the owner has passed away, his heart knows it’s finally time to do the right thing. Returning to Willow Grove, Drew revisits the old farm, where he attempts to piece together his memories and the puzzle of the crime he witnessed so long ago.

Both on a journey to find peace, Beth and Drew are surprised when they begin to experience a restoration of their own. But when long-buried secrets break through the soil and the truth unfurls, will it threaten their budding relationship—and the very future of the farm?

My Thoughts:
If you have never read a book by Courtney Walsh, then I recommend you get to the store or order a book straight to your Kindle now! "Hometown Girl" has the most gorgeous cover and immediately I was captivated by the story line of Beth and Drew. Beth has been living in the past for too long and needs to get free. She is the serious type who is driven and determined. Beth has a difficult time letting loose and enjoying life. She is strong, independent and doesn't let others into her life.  However, holding on to her past, fear and insecurity could keep her from the life that she has dreamed of and the possibility of moving forward.

Enter in the hero, kind and wonderful man we all love to read about, Drew. Although he dealt with something terrible when he was young, he is a hard working man, who is sweet, kind and thoughtful.  He of course is interested in Beth and without going into details these two hit it off!  However, just because they hit it off, will it work between them both because of their past? Does God have something different for them? Will they work or is a recipe for disaster?  The only way to know is to read this great book! I give this book 5/5 stars. Make sure you have a cozy spot because you will read this book start to finish. Thank you to the author for providing a complimentary copy for review. A favorable review was not required.

Mrs. Oswald Chambers: The Woman Behind the World's Bestselling Devotional by Michelle Ule

Mrs. Oswald Chambers: The Woman Behind the World's Bestselling Devotional

Among Christian devotional works, My Utmost for His Higheststands head and shoulders above the rest, with more than 13 million copies sold. But most readers have no idea that Oswald Chambers's most famous work was not published until ten years after his death. The remarkable person behind its compilation and publication was his wife, Biddy. And her story of living her utmost for God's highest is one without parallel.

Bestselling novelist Michelle Ule brings Biddy's story to life as she traces her upbringing in Victorian England to her experiences in a WWI YMCA camp in Egypt. Readers will marvel at this young woman's strength as she returns to post-war Britain a destitute widow with a toddler in tow. Refusing personal payment, Biddy proceeds to publish not just My Utmost for His Highest, but also 29 other books with her husband's name on the covers. All the while she raises a child alone, provides hospitality to a never-ending stream of visitors and missionaries, and nearly loses everything in the London Blitz during WWII.

My Thoughts:
Having read my Oswald's Chamber's "My Utmost for His Highest," I was thrilled at the opportunity to read Biddy's story. This book is truly remarkable. Having know nothing about Biddy before I read this book, I feel as though I have sat down over a cup of warm tea and chatted with Mrs. Chambers. Michelle's research is impeccable. Honestly, I thought this book would be more of a history book, but instead I found it to be like that of a novel that kept me reading until the last page. It was one that I couldn't put down and kept reading.
This is a biography that I highly recommend reading. The research is well done by Michelle Ule and it is a book that brings the life of Biddy Chambers alive to the world who did not get to know her in one of the most unforgettable ways. I love that she will be remembered through this amazing book and the life that she lived! I could not be more proud of Michelle for taking on this task to write such an amazing book! I loved learned about Biddy through her journal entries and the way she chased after the Lord when she lost her husband. This book is one that you must put on your list to read for the year. Additionally, it is a book that you will put on your shelf and read from time to time. I give this book 5/5 stars. Thank you to the publisher for providing a copy. A favorable review was not required.

Blessed in the Darkness: How All Things Are Working for Your Good by Joel Osteen

Blessed in the Darkness: How All Things Are Working for Your Good

The same God who leads us to green pastures guides us through the valleys. #1 New York Times bestselling author Joel Osteen shares how God uses the darkness in life for good.
All of us will go through dark times that we don't understand: a difficulty with a friend, an unfair situation at work, a financial setback, an unexpected illness, a divorce, or the loss of a loved one. Those types of experiences are part of the human journey. But when we find ourselves in such a place, it's important that we keep a positive perspective. Joel Osteen writes that if we stay in faith and keep a good attitude when we go through challenges, we will not only grow, but we will see how all things work together for our good. Through practical applications and scriptural insight, BLESSED IN THE DARKNESS focuses on how to draw closer to God and trust Him when life doesn't make sense.

If we will go through the dark place in the valley trusting, believing, and knowing that God is still in control, we will come to the table that is already prepared for us, where our cup runs over.

My Thoughts:
I am going to be honest, I am not a huge Joel Osteen fan, but "Blessed in the Darkness" was a great book that I really enjoyed and I think he did a great job with this book. We all have experienced seasons in our life where things don't go the way we have planned. Whether you have been in financial turmoil, difficult relationships or your family has been attacked, we have all faced trials in our life. However, it is what we do and who we look to in those situations that make us the people God has called us to be.

The main message of this book in that regardless of the issue or circumstance you are facing, turning to God when life doesn't make sense or when it's messed up, is the only way to find your way through the valley. When we come to him and truly seek his face, he will help us in the difficult circumstances of our life. Joel is transparent from his own life experience and professional experience of where he has faced trial and difficult circumstances.
This book is a huge encouragement if you are going through a stressful season in your life and you will find it inspiring as you seek the God of all wisdom who can help you through any difficult season or circumstance. God will work everything together for your good!

The Austen Escape By Katherine Reay

The Austen Escape

By Katherine Reay

Mary Davies finds safety in her ordered and productive life. Working as an engineer, she genuinely enjoys her job and her colleagues – particularly a certain adorable and intelligent consultant. But something is missing. When Mary’s estranged childhood friend, Isabel Dwyer offers her a two-week stay in a gorgeous manor house in England, she reluctantly agrees in hopes that the holiday will shake up her quiet life in just the right ways.
But Mary gets more than she bargained for when Isabel loses her memory and fully believes she lives in Jane Austen’s Bath. While Isabel rests and delights in the leisure of a Regency lady, attended by the other costume-clad guests, Mary uncovers startling truths about their shared past, who Isabel was, who she seems to be, and the man who now stands between them.
Outings are undertaken, misunderstandings play out, and dancing ensues as this company of clever, well-informed people, who have a great deal of conversation, work out their lives and hearts.

My Thoughts:
I'll have to admit, this book is dynamic! If you haven't read a book by Katherine Read, than I highly recommend that you do! She makes this amazing world that readers enter in, come to life. Every time I sit down with one of her books, I know I am in for a real surprise. Her characters are on point! You can't help but love them and feel as though you're apart of their lives. They are always growing with the story, which is exactly how an amazing writer is able to capture the reader with such emotion, which is what Ms. Reay does! You will love the the charm of the English country side and the elegancy of this book. I love how this book is written modern day, yet with classic information of the time frame of Jane Austen with the background and characterization as close as it could be. It makes it for a wonderful read. It is a book that will spark all five senses and bring out your imagination. This is Katherine's best book yet! Grab a copy of this book because when you get it in your hands, you won't be able to let it go until the final page. I give this book 5/5 stars. Thank you to the publisher for providing a copy. A favorable review was not required.

About the Author:
Katherine Reay has lived all across the country and Europe and has just moved with her family to Chicago. She is a writer, wife, mom, runner, and, most randomly, a tae kwon do black belt. Her award-winning debut novel, "Dear Mr. Knightley," is a contemporary story with a dash of Jane Austen and other nineteenth century writers thrown in for the fun of it. Her subsequent novels, "Lizzy & Jane" and "The Bronte Plot" and "A Portrait of Emily Price" feature stories of hope, reconciliation, family, some seriously good food and travel.

Capital Gaines Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff By Chip Gaines

Capital Gaines Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff

By Chip Gaines

The most important step is taking the first one.
The funny and talented Chip Gaines is well known to millions of people as a TV star, renovation expert, bestselling author, husband to Joanna, and father of 4 in Waco, Texas. But long before the world took notice, Chip was a serial entrepreneur who was always ready for the next challenge, even if it didn’t quite work out as planned. Whether it was buying a neighborhood laundromat or talking a bank into a loan for some equipment to start a lawn-mowing service, Chip always knew that the most important thing was to take that first step.
In Capital Gaines, we walk alongside him as he relives some of his craziest antics and the lessons learned along the way. His mentors taught him to never give up and his family showed him what it meant to always have a positive attitude despite your circumstances. Throw in a natural daredevil personality and a willingness to do (or eat!) just about anything, and you have the life and daily activity of Chip Gaines.
Capital Gaines is the perfect book for anyone looking to succeed not only in business but more importantly in life.

My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed reading Chop and Johanna Gaines first book "The Magnolia Story." I felt that book was really inspiring to hear how the couple started off in their relationship and marriage. It is amazing how God has done some great things in their lives. If you haven't read that book, I highly recommend it. This latest book by Chip is fantastic! Why? Because we really get to hear a lot from Chip. He talks a lot about himself and finally, we hear from the man who has these great goals, dreams and ambitions. I LOVE hearing the story of how he got started in his career and why he helps others, but more importantly who helped him. This book is extremely inspiring and will definitely motivate you to pour into someone younger. It is a quick read and you feel like you are sitting down talking with Chip over a cup of coffee.  This book is great for leaders and will give you the motivation to seek purpose if you haven't found it. I love the tidbits of wisdom, but they aren't to much. They are helpful for business and I love his honesty about their faith. This is a book I highly recommend and I give it 5/5 stars. Pray for Me: Finding Faith in a Crisis by Rick Hamlin

Pray for Me: Finding Faith in a Crisis

In a crisis, all you can do is trust. You have to surrender, and surrender is at the heart of prayer.

When Rick Hamlin was rushed to the ER, he was immediately admitted to the ICU. No quick diagnosis was made, and for two weeks the doctors struggled to keep his body alive as Rick struggled to keep his faith alive. PRAY FOR ME is the story of one man's spiritual odyssey to learn how to pray in a new way as healing slowly came and a medical crisis became a spiritual opportunity--a chance for him to learn he was being called to something new, to be born anew. In the end the doctors were never able to diagnose the cause of his illness, but Rick is convinced that the healing came through prayer.

My Thoughts:

This is one of those rare books where you are left in awe after finishing the book. What Rick Hamlin has been through and how God has shaped his life is incredible. While it wasn't an easy road and he had to walk through a battle, God showed up and did the impossible. The books is mainly about while we face tragedies or difficult circumstances and we don't know how it's going to turn out, we have a God who we can completely rely on, who knows how it's going to turn out. He has us in the palm of his hand. This book is inspiring, it will help you put your life into perspective and it may just help you slow down a bit from the busyness of your life. I give this book a 4/5 stars. Thank you to the publisher for providing a complimentary copy. A favorable review was not required.

About the Author:
Sometimes I think I must be nuts because for me writing is a way to relax. Sure, I get anxious about it and I'm pretty critical of what I write, wondering if I can ever fix it. But then, when the words come and I'm in a grove, I'm not going to be critical of anything. Until the next morning!

Unshakeable Trust: Find the Joy of Trusting God at All Times, in All Things by Joyce Meyer

Unshakeable Trust: Find the Joy of Trusting God at All Times, in All Things

In her new book, New York Times bestselling author Joyce Meyer explores a life lived in complete and total dependence on God. Drawing on her own experiences and inspiration from the Word of God, Joyce makes the case that in every area of your life--spiritually, relationally, emotionally, financially--you can trust that God has your very best in store.

With each new chapter, Joyce unveils a sovereign and trustworthy God who longs to be in a relationship with his people, and inspires you to tear down the walls of self-reliance. This book will both equip and encourage, as you learn how to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."

Regardless of your past pain, your present circumstances, or your future uncertainty, when you learn to trust God each day, you'll experience the joy-filled life Jesus came to give you. Others may have let you down . . . but God never will!

My Thoughts:
"Unshakeable Trust" by Joyce Meyer's hits a topic that can be very sensitive and near or dear to our heart. It touches on trust, which once that is lost, it can be damaging and hard to repair. Violation of trust is hard to mend with those you love, including friends and family because we are all humans who don't want people to let us down. Thankfully, we can and should put our entire trust in the Lord because he is completely faithful to us. He will never let us down!
Joyce reminds us that God is the person we should put our trust in and not man. We are fallen people who are broken without a savior. With a savior we are still broken, but we will break someone's trust because we aren't perfect and won't be until Christ returns. However, we should trust God. It is a honor and something we should do without fear, rejection stress or anxiety because he cares for us. He wants us to come to him. He doesn't want us to be independent of him or to rely on ourself, but to rely on him completely. The human side of us and the difficulties we have experienced on earth, will teach us to rely on our own way, emotions and experiences, but God's word teaches us something different. I encourage you to grab ahold of this book if you have issues of trust or even have difficulty giving up control over your life. Giving God the reigns over your life allows him to do the impossible.
This book has allowed me to grow and depend on him more. It has taught me to seek his word and know that he has my back. I should not be independent of him, but I should really seek his face is all matters. I give this book 5/5 stars. Thank you to the publisher. A favorable review was not required.

A Forest, a Flood, and an Unlikely Star: Rwendigo Tales

A Forest, a Flood, and an Unlikely Star
A Forest, a Flood, and an Unlikely Star: Rwendigo Tales (New Growth Press, September 2017)
Follow along with thirteen-year-old Kusiima in the third book of J.A. Myhre’s The Rwendigo Tales.
Just thirteen years old, Kusiima has no time for school, sports, or hanging out with the other boys in his African village. With no father or mother to take care of him, he works long hours to support his grandmother and sickly baby sister. Then one day, Kusiima’s life suddenly changes when he travels into a nearby protected forest. In the forest, Kusiima is presented with many choices, all with uncertain outcomes. Should he go along with illegal logging? Help to save an endangered baby gorilla? Follow a donkey to who knows where?
With each choice, Kusiima has to make yet another decision about what is right in front of him. As he does, he meets a mysterious doctor who holds the key to his past and his future. In the end, Kusiima is faced with the hardest choice of all. Can he forgive a great wrong and heal a broken relationship?
Readers of all ages won’t want to put down this exciting book that addresses current realities like AIDS, malnutrition, and environmental destruction, all set in a richly detailed African adventure story. Following along as Kusiima makes his decisions, readers will find themselves considering their own choices and growing in empathy for others. This action-packed tale of a boy, his sister, and an orphaned gorilla is also a clear call to give up bitterness and forgive deep hurts, restoring broken lives and relationships.

My Thoughts:
An adventures story set in the jungle will have you captivated from the first chapter until the story ends. I found myself wondering if I would make the same decisions and Kusiima and I couldn't believe some of the choices he had to make. I was in awe and I also felt deeply privileged to read such an amazing book. I enjoyed that this book was a quick read and it appealed to my heart very much. I think young Tweens and teens would like this book. The illustrations added character to the book. I give this book 4.5/ 5 stars. Give this book a read. I think you will enjoy it. Total Christmas Makeover: 31 Devotions to Celebrate with Purpose

Total Christmas Makeover
Total Christmas Makeover: 31 Devotions to Celebrate with Purpose(Abingdon Press, October 2017)
Give your Christmas a makeover with this practical approach to help your family learn what it means to truly celebrate their Savior.
In the bustle of the Christmas season, it can be easy to get swept up in all of the things to do. But it’s important to pause and remember that our priority should be to spend time celebrating Christ’s birth and not forget to invite Jesus to his own party.
Christmas is far more than a celebration of an event from long ago or a modern holiday centered around shopping. Mindfully take time to listen to how God continues to speak through the Christmas story as the Gospel narratives centered around the birth of Jesus provide encouragement and revelation concerning the love of God and his wisdom for us today.
In Total Christmas Makeover, author and Bible teacher Melissa Spoelstra provides a practical approach for you and your family to turn your attention toward God’s grace day-by-day as you prepare for Christmas. This 31-day devotional presents key scriptures, ideas to implement with each reading, and questions for reflection to guide you in rediscovering rituals, relationship, and rest to connect you more deeply with Christ this holiday season.

My Thoughts:
With 31 days of reflection, questions and putting Christmas into perspective " Total Christmas Makeover" is the perfect book to take the hustle and bustle of Christmas and help us all put the pause button on Christmas. Rather than focusing on what we didn't do or what we're missing, we instead focus on being, being more intentional about what we are doing and focus on being more intentional with our time, family, friends and attitude. I love thinking about how I'm going to do Christmas differently this year and I how I am going to change my celebrations to a more slower pace. I love the idea of pausing and I love the reflection in each of the days. This book is the perfect book for Christmas for me to throw in my purse to take with me each day to find the true meaning of Christmas and not to get distracted. If you are looking for a slower and more meaningful Christmas that is focused on Christ, I recommend that you pick up this book! I give this book 5/5 stars. A favorable review was not required.

Free of Me: Why Life Is Better When It's Not about You by Sharon Hodde Miller

Free of Me: Why Life Is Better When It's Not about You

"Free Of Me" is a great book that will help you dig deep into an issue of pride, which is a sin issue. We all struggle with pride in some way shape or form, but for this book, what I really realized is that everything we must do and be, should honor and always be focused on God! We need to get ourselves out of the way and let God take center stage, but we often don't do that as followers of Christ. What makes Free of Me so great is that Sharon Miller is willing to be transparent about her own faults and struggles. Her points are convicting and also made me dig deep in my faith. Then she also challenges the reader to make sure our eyes our fixed on God. Her advice is practical and applicable. It's easy to do and I never felt frustrated by learning hard truths from this book, nor did I feel judged. I enjoyed this book immensely for the freedom that it brings. She wants you to have the freedom she has experienced in her life. This book is perfect for a freedom ministry. I really enjoyed this book and give it 4/5 stars. I really appreciate its practical application.
Sharon is an author, speaker, wife, and mom based in North Carolina. In addition to earning her M.Div. at Duke Divinity School, and her PhD at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Sharon has been a regular contributor to Christianity Today, Propel, She Reads Truth, and many other Christian site.

Spiritual Wisdom for a Happier Life: How Your 8 Key Emotions Can Work for You by Mark W. Baker

Spiritual Wisdom for a Happier Life: How Your 8 Key Emotions Can Work for You

"Spiritual Wisdom for a Happier Life" is a book that tells deep truth about ourselves even when our circumstances are horrible. While we cannot change circumstances and we feel real human emotions, we must lean on the truth. Our emotions will lie to us, but the truth will always set us free. I love how this book is such a practical tool for anyone in the helping profession through stories, model, practical illustrations and opportunities to utilize reflective listening, the reader can learn how to better interact with people. This book will help you manage your emotions and it will help you, help others when they are going through difficult situations. The chapters are small and easy to digest, which doesn't make this book super wordy or hard to understand, which I love. Anyone can read this book, but as a Licensed Social Worker, I love this book. I really like the section on fear and that resonated with me a lot when I was reading the 9 key emotions. Overall, this is a book I will keep on my shelf and read from time to time. I give this book 4.5/5 stars. Thank you to the publishers for providing a copy. A favorable review was not required.

Annie F. Downs is the real deal ! In her writing and in life, she is so authentic about being brave. She is so courageous and if you haven't read "Let's All Be Brave" or "Looking for Lovely," I highly recommend that you do! These books will change your life and the way you see authentic living, being vulnerable and to stop shaming yourself.  "100 Days to be Brave" is in the format of a devotional, but I would rather see the book as a journey with God and not a devotional. The book challenges the reader on what it means to live a life worthy of the call to follow Christ, with bravery, courage and to being willing to face road blocks in life with great courage. At the end of each page, the reader is met with a challenge. I have been encouraged to journal my journey with God through taking moments of bravery and moments where I haven't felt courageous with each of these challenges by Annie. This book will help you to dare and dream bigger, while stepping out of your comfort zone. Get ready to take on a journey with God that will help you step out and face fears in your life to discover the way God created YOU! I give this book 5/5 stars. A favorable review was not required.

The One Year Daily Acts of Kindness Devotional: 365 Inspiring Ideas to Reveal, Give, and Find God's Love by Kristin Demery, Julie Fisk

The One Year Daily Acts of Kindness Devotional: 365 Inspiring Ideas to Reveal, Give, and Find God's Love

"Daily Acts of Kindness" is the perfect devotional for the world that we are living in. It seems you can't turn on t.v. or even scroll on Facebook without seeing some kind of tragedy in our world. The world continues to feed off negativity and it seems that kindness makes the news when it is only one small act. Our world should be so full of kindness that people see it everywhere! I love that this devotional has 365 days of kindness which if put into practice can have a ripple effect on helping to change the world.

Each of the devotional readings in "The One Year Daily Acts of Kindness Devotional" start with a Bible verse and then a short devotional about kindness from the author, which then ends with an application section. It allows the reader to be able to apply the devotion to their life and do some act of kindness. This is something I really love because I believe the world would be much better if we could do more kind things and speaker kinder to others even when we don't think or believe the same way.  I see this devotional as more of a challenge to try to get through and do every day of the week for  365 days a week. I give this book 5/5 stars. Thank you to the publisher for providing me a copy for review. A favorable review was not required.
