Restoring Christmas by Cynthia Ruchti

29434894Restoring Christmas by Cynthia Ruchti

Ariana Blake has one chance to land her own show on the Home Project Network and nothing—not an uncooperative client, a job site without indoor plumbing, or a challenging videographer—is going to stand in her way. Elsie, at seventy-plus, is far from the ideal client, but she knows exactly what she wants her fieldstone house to look like, and no designer can tell her otherwise. Gabe Langley, the man with the camera, is caught in the middle and it is his wisdom and warmth that just may be the bridge that will bring these two women together. Can they restore more than just a house and bring about special, almost lost forever Christmas memories?

My Thoughts:

First, I love Christmas books, so I was super excited to read this book! Second, can I just highly recommend this book? This book is so great! I loved the the characters, the plot and I couldn't think of a better way to get in the Christmas spirit. If you've been trying to find your Christmas Spirit or are looking for that Fiction book this year, I highly recommend "Restoring Christmas" by Cynthia Ruchti.

Gabe was my favorite character in the story because of his personality, but I felt like he has such a heavy load to carry. Also, I loved the way we got to go on a journey with Alexis, her Tv show and how she goes to fix up this farmhouse. I just loved this book! Overall, this book is just wonderful and I don't want to give it away.

Pick up this book! You will be glad you did! I give this book 5/5 stars. We all could use restoration at Christmas in our lives. This book will help you find it in your own life.

The Best Christmas Gift Ever by Melinda L. R. Rumbaugh

29434901 About The Best Christmast Gift Ever:

In this festive VeggieTales book, the Veggies are celebrating Christmas—decorating the tree, singing carols, and exchanging gifts. But in the middle of all the activity—though it’s so much fun to give and receive presents—the Veggies all know that the greatest gift of all was God’s gift of Jesus, his Son. Children will love the colorful art featuring their favorite Veggie friends. Parents can use this book to introduce little ones to Jesus’ birth as the reason we rejoice at Christmastime.

My Thoughts:

Your favorite cucumber and tomato are bringing Christmas to a whole new level! Grab "The Best Christmas Gift Ever" and sit down to enjoy the Veggie Tales as they bring on Christmas. I love how this book allows the reader to remember that Jesus is the reason for the season, while having the fun in the festivities of singing carols, wrapping presents and decorating the tree.

This book is a small, board book that is perfect for tiny hands age 2-6 years, with beautiful illustrations that have full colors that engage the readers.

Overall, I think the best part of this book is that it gives the true meaning behind Christmas, which is Jesus and I think that is rare for many books now, which is great for little ones. I give this book 5/5 stars!

Love One Another by Mike Berenstain

29434866Love One Another by Mike Berenstain

Stan and Jan Berenstain launched the Berenstain Bears books in 1962 with The Big Honey Hunt. Since that time, more than 400 Berenstain Bears books have been published, making it one of the best-selling children’s series ever. Today, Mike Berenstain continues his parents’ tradition. In The Berenstain Bears Love One Another, the cubs are helping Mama make berry muffins for a neighbor. When the cubs ask why they can’t have the muffins, Mama reminds them that when we love one another, we find ways to help each other. The short, simple story and well-loved characters provide toddlers with a perfect introduction to the concept of showing love and kindness.

My Thoughts:

In the newest book by the Berenstain Bears, Love One Another this book addresses the topic of showing kindness in simple way for toddlers in an engaging and loving way.

This book is a board book, which is the perfect size for parents and children. It is perfect to throw in a bag  or to bring in the car. The artwork is very lively, colorful and engaging. It really allows children to fully engage in each page as they look at the artwork.

I love that the main theme of this book is kindness, which is shown through out this book in different situations, but also we see that Brother and Sister Bear have respect for their parents, which is done in a not in your face kind of way, which I appreciate.

This book is one that will sure make your children giggle, smile and provide great social skills for years to come. This is definitely one that you want to purchase!  I give this book a 5/5 star review.

I received this book free from the publisher and  I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255

A Very Blessed Christmas Coloring Book by Robin Mead

A Very Blessed Christmas Coloring Book by Robin Mead

Color your way to a meaningful holiday season with A VERY BLESSED CHRISTMAS COLORING BOOK.

There is no better way to get into the full spirit of the holiday season than by coloring more than 85 uplifting illustrations in this special volume: frosty winter scenes, carolers in the snow, trees trimmed in nostalgic trappings, ornate churches, angels, nativities--all reminiscent of cozy moments with family and friends and the sweetest, simplest blessings of the holidays. Each artist can rejoice with a grateful heart and be reminded of the ultimate gift God gave the world. Also included are illustrated Scripture verses and fun, holiday craft cutouts that everyone can use to create their own ornaments, Christmas cards, gift tags, and more!

My Thoughts:

If you are like me, you can find a coloring book just about anywhere now. However, I have become quite picky. Since we have gotten into the Christmas Season, I found the perfect Christmas coloring book that incorporates a fundamental cornerstone in my faith, which is the birth of Christ, who is in my opinion, the reason for the season.

What I love about "A Very Blessed Christmas" is the fact that it brings scripture into coloring, while allowing me to color in a relaxed quite moment. I love the pictures and how big they are. I don't like to color small coloring books, with lots of detail. I find it be quite intimating, so this book is perfect.

Additionally, this book has a section for Christmas crafts such as cutouts to make ornaments, bookmarks or even gift tags. I love that this coloring book is unique and is perfect for everyone. It is inspirational, filled with beautiful pictures of angels, snowflakes, trees, stocking, nativity and so much more! You will love this book!

This coloring book has great paper that is thick. I used colored pencils. I give this book a 5/5 stars.

I received A Very Blessed Christmas Coloring Book compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation, aside for a free copy of the book, in exchange for my unbiased and personal opinion.

The Prayer of Protection by Joseph Prince

The Prayer of Protection: Living Fearlessly in Dangerous TimesIn these days of danger, trouble, and evil, New York Times bestselling author Joseph Prince reveals how God's children can have round-the-clock protection through the power of prayer.

THE PRAYER OF PROTECTION unveils the Bible's ultimate psalm of protection, Psalm 91, to help you understand more about how God guards His children. Joseph Prince offers simple keys and practical advice to finding and resting in the secret place of the Most High, where no evil can even come near you. You'll begin to live unafraid and with boldness as you allow the certainty of your heavenly Father's love and the sure promises of His Word to guard your heart against every fear. Come under the wings of the Almighty and live life divinely protected, positioned, and free from all fears with our covenant-keeping God!

My Thoughts:

Through a deep study of Psalm 91, the reader will learn to activate their faith in prayers, walk more boldy in protection under the care of God and take a grand adventure with the Lord as you confidently know he has your back. You will no longer walk in fear, but in faith. Mr. Prince writes with deep theological insight, but he writes in a manner that anyone can pick up this book and understand it. One thing that was not new for me to hear, but a great reminder that you always take everything to scripture. So often in our world now, we are getting mixed message or message that in-congruent with scripture and we don't even blink an eye anymore. Sometimes these message can come from our friends, family or even church body that mean well, but don't have the scripture to back up their idea. He challenges believers to always use scripture as the gage before you take it as a belief, which is something that Christians need to be reminded of. We cannot take someone's opinion from the pulpit and believe that it is truth, we must search the scriptures and find it out. I found it interesting how he talked about being in the Lord's divine protection and how we can constantly be in the protection. I had never thought about this aspect. I found this book to be interesting and Joseph backed up his thoughts with scripture. He has an interesting viewpoint on Psalm 91 and how we can live in a dangerous time with a God who calls us to live courageous. I give this book a 4.5 / 5 stars.

Cowboy Christmas Homecoming by Mary Connealy, Ruth Logan Herne, Julie Lessman & Anna Schmidt

They’ve weathered a lot worse than winter. For widow June Harper, another cold front is about to hit. Most call him Hugh. She’d call him Scrooge, except as the man ensures her needs are met, June can’t help but wonder how to meet the needs of his heart.

Netty Lewis can take care of herself, has for a while now. Some hired help over the holidays doesn’t change that. And even if Roy does take care of her, that doesn’t mean he cares for her or that he’ll stay past Christmas.

Pastor Colton McCabe is having the opposite problem. He’s not sure he’ll make it through the holidays with his new housekeeper. Grace can’t seem to do anything right but love. Perhaps being a homekeeper will earn her a permanent residence in his heart.

And no one longs for a home more than Connie Lancaster. She’s determined to return to St. Louis, and no cowboy can change her mind. But if Isaac can change her heart, maybe Connie will see the homecoming she’s been waiting for isn’t to a place but a person.

Purchase your Copy Here!!!!

My Thoughts:

If you are like me, you love Christmas books, especially novella's because you read one in a sitting. Well, this book has a collection of awesome authors who bring four unique stories together that are vastly different from one another. These novuella's are told from a historical perspective and do not relate to one another at all. However, the one theme that is true in all of them is the magic that Christmas will offer. I enjoyed each story, but my personal favorite was A Cowboy for Christmas by Ruth Logan Herne. I found myself digging in as June Harper and her children tugged at my heart strings. I couldn't help but fall in love with Hugh. He is just a blessing. This story makes me weepy thinking of it. I highly recommend you reading this set of four novellas! You will love them! Wynn Wynn Media is so awesome in providing me a copy and I think you should have a copy too! I was not required to write a favorable review, the opinion's expressed here is my own. I give this book a 5/5 star review.

NKJV, Know The Word Study Bible

Book Description

Studying the Bible does not have to be an intimidating or overwhelming experience. The study of God’s Word can be easy and rewarding if you break down the Bible into easy-to-understand segments. The NKJV Know The Word Study Bible offers three easy ways to begin studying Scripture and helps individuals transition from being a casual reader of the Bible to becoming a regular student of the Word. Whether you prefer to study the Bible book by book, verse by verse, or topic by topic, each starting point offers powerful insights that will help you develop a daily routine of Bible study. The Book by Book series of notes leads you through the main points of each book of the Bible. The Verse by Verse studies help you to dig deeper into God’s Word at a verse level. The Topic by Topic articles, which cover 21 key theological topics, give you a bird's-eye view of Scripture and guide you through the main themes that run throughout the Bible.
Features Include:
• New King James Version Bible text • Three easy approaches to study the Bible: Book by Book, Verse by Verse, Topic by Topic • Book introductions • Words of Jesus in red • Two-color interior page design • Comprehensive list of theological notes • Concordance
My Thoughts:
This Bible is hardcover filled with tools to help you look at the scriptures and help you understand the Bible in a new and fresh way. It helps you understand it so much easier. This has a more casual way to understand the Bible by helping you dig deeper into God's word through the topics, verses and the books of the Bible. I found this to be a more simple way to understand the Bible then other contexts. However, I found the paper to be thin, which doesn't make this Bible a great study Bible for years to come. While it is a helpful study tool, I don't think the paper will last for years. Due to the paper, I give this Bible 4/5 stars.
Thank you to the Publishers for providing me a complimentary copy.

Trust My Heart (Waterfall Press, October 2016)
Grant McAllister arrives in Murphy, North Carolina, with one aim: to sell his inherited property and leave as quickly as possible.
The big-city lawyer has no interest in his late, estranged grandparents or the dilapidated mansion he just acquired. After his high-profile divorce, he should be avoiding perky reporters, too. But Jami Carlisle is honest, funny, and undeniably appealing.
After breaking up with her safe-but-smothering boyfriend, Jami is determined to ace her first big assignment. A story about the McAllister estate is too intriguing to ignore—much like its handsome, commitment-phobic heir. Thanks to her digging, the pieces of Grant’s fraught family history are gradually fitting into place, but also upending all his old beliefs.
The two draw closer as they share their dreams, until misread signals and misunderstandings begin to test their trust. But in the unspoiled beauty of the Smoky Mountains, there’s healing and forgiveness to be found. And for Grant, this unplanned detour may be just what’s needed to finally guide him home…

My Thoughts:
This was my first read from Carol J. Post, so I thought I would give it a whirl. I felt the book had a lot of romance going on, which I didn't expect. I was really interested in finding out if the dream of a B& B was going to happen. If you are looking for a charming, small town romance, set in North Carolina, this book will give you that feel. It has swoon worthy moments, but the plot has moments where I felt it was distracting, it does pull you in. The book for me was all over the place. I give this book 3/5 stars because I couldn't stay focused at times. However, the characters have great chemistry and I think that is what made this book worth the read. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and the expressed opinions are my own.

The Cherish Quilt by Amy Clipston

29491884Tragedy tore Christopher’s world apart. But Emily believes there are enough pieces left behind to stitch together a beautiful new beginning.

Emily Fisher is eager to meet the new employee at her father’s shop in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania. But when Christopher Hochstetler arrives, his cold demeanor freezes her attempts at building a friendship.

Longing for a fresh start, Christopher travels from Ohio to Bird-in-Hand to work at his uncle’s shop. Christopher’s heart is still wounded from memories of home, and making new friends is the last thing on his mind—he knows the pain that comes with losing those you love. When Emily is kind to him, he tries to remain distant, but he soon finds himself stealing glances at her throughout the day.

When Christopher shares his tragic reasons for leaving home, Emily decides to make a quilt for him as a gesture of their friendship. Even though he is not a member of the church, she’s found someone with whom she can imagine a future. The two are quickly falling in love when a family emergency calls Christopher back to Ohio without warning.

Emily finishes the quilt, in spite of her pain. But when Christopher receives it, will he have the courage to follow his heart?

My Thoughts:

Amy continues to step up her game with each and every book in the Amish Heirloom series. The Cherished Quilt is no different.  This is the third book in this series featuring the Fisher series, their family and this is Emily's story. Get ready to meet handsome, Christopher who is holding on by a thread, but is in the leather business and is a very talented young man. He and Emily start off on the wrong foot, but filled with compassion, Em eventually decides he has been through a lot and offers friendship in the form of a quilt. She begins to ask her mom for fabric, which leads to a conversation about her and Chris only being friends. Emily sees herself as helping Chris, but her mom knows that Em might be developing something beyond friendship. Filled with raw emotion, Emily puts her heart out on the line, but is Chris able to accept? Or are the demons from his past enough to keep him from unforgiveness, a life of unhappiness and a quilt that could change his life forever?

This book isn't just a fiction story, but one that has a deeper story written within it. It deals with grief, faith, forgiveness, courage, jealousy and so much more. Each of us can relate to Chris and Em in one or another as we have all experienced some of the human emotion they have. The pages flew during this read. I had to limit myself because I did not want the book to end. It was a page turner and I wished I had the 4th book in my hand ready to read. Don't miss out on this life-changing Amish Fiction novel. You will regret not picking up a copy.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Abingdon, October 2016)
Celebrate 31 days of a Christ-filled Christmas season.
For Christians worldwide, the month of December is filled with joy and wonder as we anticipate the celebration of Christ’s birth. There is no other time of the year that can compare to the Christmas season for both the young and young at heart.
From December to New Year’s Eve, reawaken the wonder, joy, and magic that is Christmas with daily scripture and inspirational readings of stories behind popular Christmas traditions, carols and movies. Enjoy a wealth of fun activities to help make the most of the season, including heartwarming holiday recipes and homemade gift ideas.
With this soon-to-be-cherished holiday devotional, best-selling author Ace Collins will capture your imagination and help to make each day of December more memorable and meaningful to you, and those you love, by shining a light on the real spirit of the season.

My Thoughts:
With Advent season coming up, this little book offers you a different approach to making new traditions mix with old. Each day starts with a Bible verse and a devotional read. Then it will have some kind of activity such as baking cookies, a song, making a gift, etc. It has crafts and all kinds of fun and creative ideas to get children involved in the process. I think this book is especially great for older youth, especially tweens. I think this devotional is perfect for the season, but allows youth to take on a role in Advent they may have never done before. I love how quick this book can be read and I love how small it is. It can fit into my purse and remind me of the reason behind the season while doing things that are festive. I give this book 4/5 stars. Thank you to the publisher for providing this book, a positive review was not required.
