Sarah Young’s first 365-day devotional since Jesus Calling.
With scripture and new personal reflections, the #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah Young, brings Jesus’ message of joy—for today and every day. Experience true joy—now and always.
Life today is full of difficulties—loss, sadness, fear. In the midst of these challenges, joy often feels impossible or out of reach. But Jesus has more for His followers than a life of striving, pain, and discontent. He offers life abundant, life to the fullest, life brimming with joy! Jesus Always, the new 365-day devotional from bestselling author Sarah Young, was written as part of Sarah Young’s exploration of the promises of joy in scripture. Written as if Jesus Himself is speaking directly to the reader, Jesus Always invites you into a new way of living—a life of joy.
Reaching out with joy-filled reminders from the Word of God, these devotions will intimately and gently connect you with Jesus—the One who meets you where you are. Draw near to Him in Jesus Always.
My Thoughts:
If you have ever read "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young, "Jesus Always "is another fantastic devotional by her. Her devotional writings are a personal reflection for you to encounter spending time with the Lord as you  pray and reflect on scripture in a daily devotional.  What I love about Sarah's writing is that she keeps her standards consistent with the Bible, which is something that we cannot say about all books we read today.  This devotional will change your quiet time with the Lord as you spend the next 365 days focusing on Jesus. This devotion also focuses on joy and what it means to follow Jesus with joy. It is a beautiful devotional and you will absolutely love it ! It is the perfect gift for a friend or a Christmas gift!   I highly recommend it.  Thank you to the publishers for providing a complementary copy for review purposes only. I give this devotional 5/5 stars.

God vs Religion by Dr. Creflo Dollar

Bestselling author Dr. Creflo Dollar offers a clarion call for people to ditch religion and embrace a relationship with Christ with 10 compelling reasons GOD VS. RELIGION.
Over centuries, religion has broken churches, fueled wars, and driven people away from the true Gospel of Jesus. Dr. Creflo Dollar shows why God hates religion--but loves for people to have genuine connections with Him. He presents 10 compelling reasons, such as: Religion makes people try to earn their way into Heaven, but Christ offers grace; Religion says God uses calamity to teach His people, but Christ comforts us; and Religion makes prayer a powerless "form of godliness," but Christ hears every word. GOD VS. RELIGION will give readers an empowering understanding of the true values of Christianity and beliefs that transform church-going into a full, authentic, and meaningful relationship with God.
My Thoughts:

Dr. Creflo Dollar challenges the reader's beliefs system and the importance of our thoughts between religion and relationship. Religion is the center thing that drives so many people away from the church today in America. It is the thing that is not based on grace, but based on rules, legalism, and attitudes that cause division among churches. Creflo go against the grain and stomps down on religion, which is completely FREEING! He engages the reader to get rid of the mindsets and behaviors that keep them from a relationship with the Lord because the church has distorted a relationship and has made it religious.

This book will take you to a new level if you have ever struggled with religion and haven't had a relationship with the one true God who loves you. Don't allow religion to rule in your life, but allow a loving God pursue a relationship with you. This book will challenge you, enlighten your beliefs and help clear some of the traditions in your mind that have been keeping you in bondage to help you pursue a relationship with the Lord, instead of a religion.

Thank you to Faith Words for providing a copy. I give this book 5/5 stars. I did not receive monetary compensation for this book.

I Wish He Had Come with Instructions by Mike Bechtle

What Is He "Really" Thinking?

When a woman begins a relationship with a man, she may think she's found her knight in shining armor. As the relationship continues, that armor can begin to feel like a barricade she just can't get past it. What's he hiding in there, anyway?

Relationship and communication expert Mike Bechtle offers women an insider's guide to the puzzling male brain. Simple and practical, this book provides women with a roadmap for better conversations and improved relationships. Bechtle reminds readers that men and women share many similarities, and by embracing those similarities they can better deal with differences. He explains how men think, act, communicate, and grow in relationships, and even offers tips for communicating in a toxic relationship.

Wives, girlfriends, mothers, daughters, friends, and coworkers will find real help within these pages.

My Thoughts:

First, I love that this was written by a male perspective. Mike did a great job making this book funny, honest and he did not apologize for his gender. I also appreciate that this book is not one with a list of instructions on how to change your husband because I was skeptical of this book based on title. Instead this book give the reader information on the genetic and brain chemistry of a male, which helped females liked myself understand why males respond to certain situations the way they do.

I think this book would be good for any female wanting to understand how to be a better wife, especially newly weds trying to understand how to communicate. This book points out simple truths in understanding males that many women don't understand till further in their married years. I really enjoyed that this book was told from a male author and I think many females will benefit from reading this book to understand their spouse better. I give this book 4/5 stars. Thank you to Revell Publishing. I was not compensated for a positive review, but given a complimentary copy for review purposes only.

Love, Lace and Minor Alternations by V. Joy Palmer

My Thoughts:

Love, Lace and Minor Alternations is a light-hearted, fun and adorable read! I love the way the V. Joy Palmer writes this book and think she is an author to keep your eye on. From the very beginning, she has me intrigued at the bookstore where Izze runs into the handsome and oh, so tolerable Miles who steals her table at the coffee shop. From there on, the book is history with whitt, character tension that builds back and forth and sweet romance. The author naturally writes in such a way that the characters have a relationship with the Lord, which is amazing to see carried out through entire Fiction novel that is genuine.

While humor, faith, and romance are the essentials ingredients to this book, you don't want to miss out on the happenings at the Bridal Boutique. Joy did her homework and made this place come to life in the story, which makes this book even better. So if you are looking for a mouth water, fun, quirky, laugh out loud, romance, grab this book!

This author adds fresh new blood to the writing industry especially with "rude guy" and "None of your Beezwax." She is down right hilarious, but when the humor is gone, and the book is over, you'll find teardrops falling from your eyes. This book is sweet and reminds us of who and where we put our hope and faith in.

If you are a fan of Janice Thompson, Sandra D. Bricker, Denise Hunter or Robin Jones Gunn, then you would love this debut book by Joy Palmer. If you have never read any of these authors, you would still enjoy Love, Lace and Minor Alterations. Thank you to author for providing me a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review. I give this book 5/5 stars. I look forward to more works from this author and hopefully more books to come in this series!

Play with Fire by Bianca Olthoff

27840541As a powerful speaker, Bianca brings nothing but life and power in her latest book "Play with Fire." This book is raw, gripping, emotional and filled with a fiery passion that spot on ignites with the Holy Spirit.

She is honest about the personal struggles of her own life as she grew up and the trials that were placed before her. She refers to the Bible several times and the stories of how people also walked through some fierce moments.

However, I will say that as powerful as Bianca is, I was a little taken back by some of the grammatical issues of the book. I wasn't sure if they were intended or not. While this could have been the style, it defiantly had a few moments for me. Not enough for me to turn away from the book, but enough that I noticed and was surprised.

Overall, I think this book is well-written in the message she conveys, in the story and trial she faces and how she has been brought through. Her testimony is like no other and I believe this book will be trans-formative and powerful to those who read it. I loved this book! It had be challenged and it had me turning the pages one after another wondering what was going to happen next.
I give this book 5/5 stars because of the content, the power and how it transformed my heart.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me a complimentary copy for review purposes only. I was not compensated to give a positive review.

Seize the Day by Joyce Meyer

28450796Do you ever find yourself saying "I'll get to that later, or I'll call that person later because I'm so busy," and then you realize it's been over a month! If you're anything like me, you've had that experience and have wondered where the day's and months have gone.
As a person who starts her Monday's with a computer program that has a to do list and virtually checks it off one by one, some days at work I realize that I don't always accomplish what I set off to do because sometimes I get distracted and I don't seize the moment or time I have. Other days, I find myself really dedicated to my "to do list" and everything gets done, so what gives?

Our time is in invaluable and in a society where everything is fast paced, more is better and fewer means you're not producing Joyce Meyer brings a different thought to "Seize the Day" in her latest book. Our money and our time are invaluable and how we spend both, sums our life. Did you know every single moment is one that you will never get back? Writing about this book is a moment that I will never get back, but I believe it is worth writing. Why? Because you need to understand the importance of how you live your life, who you spend it with and how you spend it!

Each of us must choose to spend our life on purpose because a time will come where we will leave this earth and will step into eternity. What we do on this earth, impacts not only the here and now, but what happens in Heaven. Don't live your life wasted, but live it on purpose. If you find that your days and months are slipping away, and you have no idea why I recommend you picking up "Seize The Day" by Joyce Meyer. This book is full of great ideas that will help you set boundaries in making the most of your time each day to impact the Kingdom here and now, as well as the eternal kingdom.

Thank you to Faith words for providing me a complimentary copy of "Seize the Day" by Joyce Meyers. I was not compensated for a positive review but have given my honest review. "Seize the Day" will help you take charge or your day, live life on purpose learn time management and learn that you should not wait for tomorrow! Danielle Walker's Against All Grain Celebrations

About: When people adopt a new diet for health or personal reasons, they worry most about the parties, holidays, and events with strong food traditions, fearing their fond memories will be lost along with the newly eliminated food groups. After suffering for years with a debilitating autoimmune disease and missing many of these special occasions herself, Danielle Walker has revived the joy that cooking for holidays can bring in Danielle Walker's Against All Grain Celebrations, a collection of recipes and menus for twelve special occasions throughout the year.
Featuring a variety of birthday cakes, finger foods to serve at a baby or bridal shower, and re-creations of backyard barbecue standards like peach cobbler and corn bread, Danielle includes all of the classics. There’s a full Thanksgiving spread--complete with turkey and stuffing, creamy green bean casserole, and pies--and menus for Christmas dinner; a New Year's Eve cocktail party and Easter brunch are covered, along with suggestions for beverages and cocktails and the all-important desserts. Stunning full-color photographs of every dish make browsing the pages as delightful as cooking the recipes, and beautiful party images provide approachable and creative entertaining ideas.

First, in Under the Harvest Moon by Beth Wiseman you will feel the loss as Naomi Dienner grieves the loss of her husband. Or does she find relief and love in an English man and can she open her heart to the new possibility of love?

Come join Jonathan Stoltfuz as he will take you on the most beautiful buggy ride ever in Lancaster in “Love & Buggyy Rides” by Amy Clipston. This story will quicken your heart as you immerse yourself into the fall scenery, with hearts that kindle into something deeper than their friendship.  And if you think it ends there, you need to read the ending, Amy builds the suspense and you won’t see it coming! I loved how different this was from previous novellas. Amy continues to step up writing game, so make sure you read this book!

A Quiet Love by Kathleen Fuller is a story that will instantly grab your heart as you learn about Dinah, who stutters and has a speech impediment. If you’ve ever gone through any trial in your life or have been self-conscious, you can relate to Dinah. And if the story doesn’t hold your attention about dealing with issues of self-consciousness, Amos sure will grab your heart as he is looking for a wife. This will keep you turning the pages.

Finally, the book wraps up with the last story by Vannetta Chapman entitled “Mischief in the Autumn Air.”  This book is a mystery to be solved and you get to solve it! My two favorite stories from this published book of novellas were Amy Clipston’s Love and Buggy Rides and Kathleen Fuller’s A Quiet Love. Wait and See by Wendy Pope

28114330My Thoughts:
Have you ever had solid plans for your life that went south rather fast? Or how about dreams that you dreamed your entire life that you could feel slip through your fingertips as you watched others live your life that you were supposed to be living? Wendy Pope knows a thing or two about that in writing one of the most life-giving books I have read called "Wait and See."

Right through the gates of this book, I was nodding my head, in a puddle of tears, and thinking Wendy I'm living that life right now! At some point or another, we have all struggled with wanting something whether immediately or yearning and waiting for the journey to unfold, but not by our own time. Sometimes, or most times, our time is God's time! Right?

In "Wait and See," Wendy walks us through getting ready to do battle with the proper weapons to get through any season no matter how long. The wait might be strenuous, but the wait it so worth it. She uses the story of David to encourage the reader and writes this book in a Bible study format. The composition is perfect as the reader engages the book, you have periods where you reflect on Bible verses and in the back of the book, you answer questions regarding the chapters. "Wait and See" is perfect for a book club format with your friends.

"Wait and See" is a breath of fresh air based on Biblical content, that touches my soul in a way that someone hasn't in a long time. It has brought me new hope because of the perspective that Wendy brings through the lens of the Bible and the experiences of those she shares in "Wait and See."

"Wait and See" releases Oct 1, 2016, and I highly recommend you put a pre-order in for this book. You don't want to miss this book! It will give you a new perspective on the difficult circumstances in your life. I can't tell you what this book has done for my attitude.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me a complimentary copy of this book. I give it 5/5 stars and look forward to more great work by Wendy Pope. She is an author I think we can expect to see more amazing work from in the future.

Live, Love, Lead by Brian Houston

24397007My Thoughts:
In Live Love Lead, Brian Houston has written a book that captures the hearts of readers from all different paths telling letting them know their past doesn't define their future. Starting out from something very small, Hillsong has grown into one the largest churches in the world, and it started with Brian, his wife, Bobbie trusting the Lord one day at a time, while faithfully serving where they were planted.

Brian relyed on the Lord, especially when knew that God had a high calling on his life, but public speaking was very difficult for him. Often, he would blink several times and just needed God's strength to help him through his weakness.  I love how he also talks about several songs came to fruition, including Oceans, which is one of my favorites. If you haven't heard of the story of Taya, I highly recommend you reading it.
I enjoyed Chapter Eleven when Brian was transparent and honest about "What's a Name?" He can account for his name, but the name Hillsong will never save someone. He takes accountability, authority and credibility for his last name Houston, but his name will never save someone. Only the power and saving the name of Jesus. This part of the Chapter spoke volumes to me. It was just a powerful chapter for me.

Brian is real and authentic to me. He is honest and tells stories of struggle with preaching, he isn't afraid to tell people what he went through, but ultimately, God continued to use him and move him to the place he was called.

This book was powerful, impactful and life changing, especially for anyone who is ready to pursue their God-given dream for their life. This is my first read by Brian Houston, and I was very surprised by his transparency, authenticity, and the story behind Hillsong.

Thank you to the Hachette Book Group for providing me a complimentary copy for review purposes only. I give this book a 5/5 stars. I highly recommend this book.

God Bless Us Everyone by Eva Marie Everson

Charlene Dixon--called Charlie by family and friends--is devastated at the recent loss of her job. For the last five years, the twenty-seven-year-old has blossomed as the activities director of an exclusive all-girls school. But when a misunderstanding with the head-mistress leads to a pink slip right before the holidays, Charlie packs up dreams and returns to Grandma Esther, who raised Charlie as her own.

When Charlie arrives--broken and confused--Esther immediately puts her granddaughter to work behind the scenes of the local school's Christmas play, A Christmas Carol. When Charlie disapproves of having to work with Dustin Kennedy, the seventh-grade English teacher, Grandma Esther encourages her to take a deeper look at why the book by Charles Dickens had been written in the first place and what the book could teach Charlie about the needs of the children in their own community.

My Thoughts:
God Bless Us Everyone by Eva Marie Everson is a traditional and contemporary blend of the Charles Dickson's The Christmas Carol with a modern tale of a story told of second chances, forgiveness, new beginnings and faith. I love that this book takes the reader into the Christmas season in a lovely way and the ending has a happily ever after that is different than I had anticipated. Eva did a great job with the character development and I enjoyed the story line. I give this book a 5/5 stars. Thank you to the publishers for providing me a complimentary copy for review purposes. I was not compensated for a positive review.

Good Leaders Ask Great Questions by John C. Maxwell

My Thoughts:
Having never read a book by John C. Maxwell, I am blown away by the leadership advice he offers in "Good Leaders Ask Great Questions" on page one. If you work in any place of employment, I highly encourage you to pick up this book or any of his books.  As someone who is young in my professional career, this book challenged me to ask questions rather than to nod my head acting like I knew the answers. I love how this book addresses leadership and what solid leadership looks like in organization versus ineffective leadership.  The most impactful chapter by far was chapter one. I love the top 10 questions that John C. Maxwell challenges the reader and himself. This book has taught me the value of questions, asking the right questions, what kind of questions and when to ask them. Additionally, I found his reason for writing books to be inspiring and to be full of truth when he stated that his friend, and author, Les Parrott wrote books to "increase his audience and message." Despite the challenges and how long it took Maxwell to write a book, he did not give up and has sold over 24 million copies. I think the guy knows something about leadership, business and taking your professional life to the next level.

You don't have to be a business expert, a leadership guru or even the top dog at your business to start asking great questions to move up in your company. "Good Leaders Ask Great Questions" is written in bite size chunks that will help you grow as a leader. If you're just starting in a leadership role, this is a great read. If you're not in a leadership role, this is a great read to help you move from good to great. Overall, I learned so much from this book. I have almost every page highlighted with something that I learned about leadership, questions, or dealing with individuals who are need to grow in their skills. This would be a great gift for a college student, a graduation present or even someone who just landed their first job. If you're looking to grow in your leadership, pick up this book. I highly recommend it.

Thank you to Center Street Publishing for providing me a complimentary copy for review purposes. I was not compensated for a positive review. I give this book 5/5 stars. I cannot wait to read more books by John C. Maxwell.
