A Sister’s Wish (Avon Inspire, September 2016)

In Shelley Shepard Gray’s third book in her Charmed Amish Life series, a respectable young woman finds herself falling for an Amish man from the wrong side of the tracks.
Amelia Kinsinger is the perfect Amish woman—at least according to her neighbors. And while Amelia takes pride in her role as homemaker, she’s also harboring a secret: She’s been in love with bad boy Simon Hochstetler for as long as she can remember. Too bad he’s about as far from “perfect” as an Amish man could get… but that’s exactly why she’s so drawn to him.
Life hasn’t been kind to Simon. He ran away from an abusive home at fifteen and things went downhill from there. Eventually, Simon landed in prison. But the experience changed him. Now back in Charm as a grown man, he’s determined to make a new life for himself and not think too much about his wild past…unless it pertains to Amelia.
He’s loved Amelia for years. To him, she represents everything good and kind in the world. When he realizes that she returns his affections, he starts calling on her in secret, even though her older brother Lukas—who just happens to be Simon’s best friend—has made it perfectly clear that Amelia deserves better. Simon disagrees and believes he’s the only one who can truly make her happy.
But when Amelia gets hurt, it sets off a chain of events that forces them to consider their future together—and face their past mistakes. There’s a chance for love… but only if Simon dares to trust Amelia with the secrets of his past.

My Thoughts:
Don't miss out on " A Sister's Wish", which is the third book in The Charmed Amish Life Series. I have loved reading these books by Shelley Shepard Gray. This one especially is one that will having you turning the pages, will have tears in your eyes and will have you laughing. Amelia, a sweet woman in love with a man who has a past, who returns to back to Charm to his hometown hoping to start over again. For him, he wishes to put the past behind him, but can this small town do the same? And despite his best efforts, is this good enough for Amelia? God? Will sparks fly for these two or will the past haunt his future? The only way to find out is to pick up a copy today. Thank you to litefuse for providing me a copy for my honest opinion. I was not compensated for a positive review. I give this book 5/5 stars.

An Amish Family Christmas (Avon Inspire, October 2016)
In Shelley Shepard Gray’s fourth book in her Charmed Amish Life series, an unlikely Amish romance reveals that Christmas is a time for family, miracles—and love.
Ever since his father died in a tragic fire, Levi Kinsinger has felt adrift. Newly returned to Charm, Ohio, Levi is trying to fit into his old life, only to discover he seems to have outgrown it.
But when Julia, his young widowed neighbor, asks for his help with a Christmas project, Levi finds a sense of purpose for the first time in months. She and her daughter are new to Charm and could use a friend, a job Levi takes personally. Soon enough, friendship grows into attraction, but Levi can’t help having doubts. There’s something about Julia that doesn’t ring quite true…
Like Levi, Julia Kemps has survived her fair share of hardships—but only by hiding the truth of her past. Being an unmarried mother in an Amish community was unthinkable. Feeling hopeless, Julia did the only thing she could do: she moved to a new town and pretended to be a widow. But meeting Levi, she’s hopeful for the first time. Little by little, she begins to imagine telling him her darkest secret, and eventually…perhaps even sharing her life with him.
Christmas is a time for family, and as the holiday draws closer, Julia and Levi will have to face their pasts together…in order to find the healing, support and love they so desperately desire.

Meanwhile, Amelia’s younger brother, William, has proposed to his girlfriend. Amelia would be excited except she has evidence that the fiancĂ©e is not who she says she is. It seems Nate is the only one available for any advice-giving, and he’s good at it—and pretty fun to talk to too. As Amelia works to craft the perfect flower arrangements for other people, she begins to wonder if real love is better than the dream. And if it is, will Nate still be interested when he learns who she is?

Will Josh and Holly be able to keep things as they are when their true feelings threaten to surface at every turn?

My Thoughts:
All three of these Novella's are fantastic! First, you can't pick a favorite author because all three are brilliant writers! Second, all three novella's set the mood for a fantastic fall wedding story that is like no other. Are you in the mood to kick off fall with some romance? Look no more! "To Have and To Hold" has three different stories that will capture your heart and your mind for a few hours keeping you busy as your turn the pages. You'll fall in love with Will and you can't help but dream of the amazing bakery Charlotte has. If the smell doesn't capture your attention, Will has a way of captivating your heart. Did I mention Amelia has a beautiful flower shop that smell as pretty as she does, but will Nate think so? And if you haven't had enough yet, you should really run into Josh.. Or maybe Holly.. Enough said.. You'll fall in love with each of these three weddings! I promise! I give this book 5/5 stars. I enjoyed each Novella by three fabulous authors! Just A Kiss by Denise Hunter

Just a Kiss
Riley Callahan’s plans to reveal his secret feelings for his best friend are derailed when his life is drastically altered in Afghanistan.
Watching the love of his life fall for his brother was enough to send Riley straight to boot camp. But over a year later, he’s officially a marine, and Beau and Paige are no longer an item. When Riley’s tour in Afghanistan is up, he intends to confess his feelings to Paige and win his best friend’s heart once and for all.
But all that changes when an IED takes the life of a comrade and leaves Riley an amputee. Now he’s heading home, injured and troubled. His plans to win Paige are a distant dream. She deserves so much more than the man that’s left. All he can do now is put some healthy distance between them. But upon his return he discovers his family has arranged for him to stay with Paige.
Paige is a nurturer at heart and happy to take care of her best buddy. By all appearances Riley is adjusting miraculously well to his disability. But as the days pass, Paige begins to see that the smiles and laughter are just a mask for the pain he’s hiding. To make matters worse, her job is in serious jeopardy. The animal shelter that she’s poured her heart into has lost its funding, and she has three months to come up with the money needed to save it.
As the weeks wear on, Paige’s feelings for Riley begin to shift into uncharted territory. Why is she suddenly noticing his arm muscles and the way his lips curl at the corners? Will she be able to deny her feelings for another Callahan brother? And will Riley let his heart heal so he can let Paige in?
My Thoughts:
Fans of Denise Hunter will love her latest book "Just a Kiss." This book is more than just a kiss but is the story of Riley and Paige two best friends as teenagers. Riley went off to boot camp and a year later an IED leaves him as an amputee. He has to face the PTSD, the shame he feels towards having to learn a new sense of independence and reliance on Paige.
Paige is going on dates with another gentleman, while Riley is living with her and of course, Riley is jealous. However, will this bring a lover story or are the two just friends? Only reading the book will tell the story.

This book is fast paced, and I read it in two sittings because I had to leave for a birthday party. If you have never read a book by Denise Hunter, you will love the way she writes. The book is like a vortex that keeps you turning the pages, and you can't help but finish the book. However, I will say I wished the book was longer. I wanted the ending to just be a little longer because I loved the book. Check this book. I give it a 5/5 stars for some awesome fiction! Thank you to the Publisher for providing me a complimentary copy for review purposes only.

The Hairy Mess

Are you one of those people who doesn't like attention? You tend to stay in the background of all noise and fuss everything? Maybe you're front row, and it doesn't bother you at all. You don't mind being in the crowd of people and you enjoy the platform. You're happy to get up in front of large groups of individuals, and it doesn't bother you at all. (Oh, I wish I were like you.) I tend to shy away from the crowd and sink into the back. If someone were to ask me what I am most comfortable, it is 1:1 situations. I can get loud, stomp on things that I believe are unjust, but I tend to lead quietly.

Recently, I had the opportunity to chop my hair, which was a unique experience. I have never cut my hair this way. If fact, it is the shortest it has ever been since I was a baby. I have always had long hair. It is what it is. This hair cut style change has left the door open for a lot of people to notice me. I don't like attention at all, and I could care less about hair, which maybe has been apparent all these years, I'm not sure. I'm a person who firmly believes it's all about the heart condition of people not what they look like on the outside.

Well, my heart condition the last two weeks has STUNK! It's like winning the lottery and not knowing that the money is going to change your life.. or WRECK it.  All of this attention regarding my hair has either inflated my ego or destroyed it. If someone likes my hair and gives me an exceptional compliment, it gives the ego a boost enforcing awesome self-esteem and if a comment is not favorable, it immediately sinks the self-esteem to a pit. First, I never wanted to be noticed. I liked being in the background. It's a place I prefer to stay. If you like my outfit, cool and if not, I never cared. Second, let's be real WHEN did I start caring about my HAIR or other people's opinions? This hair situation has cost me oodles of money on products, headbands, shampoos and hours of worry. NOT worth that at all. I don't care who say's what, no hair cut is worth that. It's just not. It causes confusion and division. Not PEACE!

And then.....  Yes, there is a and then moment.

First God,
Reminded me that number #1 opinion is his and that is the only one that matters. He doesn't care about my hair folks. It doesn't matter to him. My crappy attitude about it does. BIG sigh. I love him. He sets my course straight every time. He reminded me in Proverbs 30:30 that beauty is vain. Ouch! I don't want that on me. I would rather fear him. He is a God that loves me when my attitude stinks.

And then as I had my pity party about my hair troubles, he graciously reminded me that I have hair. I have many precious friends who have children fighting childhood cancer who are running around with bald heads or aren't even running around. He ever so kindly reminded me what was important, and hair wasn't on the list anymore.

Hair is so temporary, but an attitude who fears the Lord is forever. Who would want to miss out on that? Who would want to be disobedient to that? Not me! Not at all. Sin, it's this thing that can entangle us, capture us and even destroy us if we can't recognize it.

Whether you're in the front row seat or the back, make sure you keep your eyes focused on the one who should always be the center stage in your life. He will keep your paths straight and fix your hairy messes.

Blueberry Cupcake Mystery Blog Tour and Giveaway!

Purchase your copy here.

About the Book:
In the small town of Abbott Creek, mystery is as much a part of daily life as The Sweet Shop’s sugar cookies.
Blueberry Cupcake MysteryKatie Chupp spends her days at The Sweet Shop, taking care of customers and baking delicious treats . . . not exactly a profession where one expects to be thrown into the midst of mysteries and mayhem.
But when the bakery is broken into, someone has to find the thief . . . besides finding another place to do the baking and get the orders to the customers.
Is this a random theft, or is the thief trying to ruin the town’s Independence Day celebration?

My Thoughts:
The Blueberry Cupcake Mystery was super cute and I enjoyed the first installment in the Amish Sweet Ship Mysteries. I love the story it tells of forgiveness. I thought it was a good, clean read that could be read in one sitting. I am excited for the Christmas Cookie Mystery to come out and cannot wait to get my hands on that book.
This story will grab you, especially as the reader we all wish we had a little of Katie in us. Katie handles difficult situations with pose and with such a Christian attitude, which I think is something I can take away from this book. Even in fiction books, I think there is always a great takeaway and I enjoyed the way the writer wrote Katie as a character. I don't want to give a lot of information away because it could ruin the story, but I highly recommend you read this book.
If you have never read any of Naomi Miller's books, give this one a read. It is worth your time. I expect that she will continue to write great books in the future. I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, which I have given. I give this book 5/5 stars.
Guest post from Naomi Miller:
Hello! I’m Naomi Miller — and I’m honored to be featured on Celebrate Lit!
I want to share with you how the title and cover for my debut book, Blueberry Cupcake Mystery, was chosen. This is a story I haven’t shared with anyone else — yet. The story behind the blueberry cupcake…
I was actually writing an Amish suspense novel last winter, when God placed it on my heart to write a shorter story — a cozy mystery, with no suspense, no danger, but plenty of faith, family, compassion and community.
While thinking of the best way to begin the story, my daughter made a batch of blueberry cupcakes, which happen to be one of my favorite treats. Of course, the idea to use a favorite treat was too good to resist. Then, during the early days of writing, I began experimenting with the idea of baking cupcakes — but adding blueberries before baking. Two favorite treats in one!
And there you have it . . . once we had a picture of a blueberry cupcake, the designer quickly sent back a cover I fell in love with (although there were a few more tweaks before the final cover was approved).
I actually began writing many years ago — 1990 to be exact. But I had just become a single mom and I didn’t have time to pursue it. I wrote notes, letters, articles, short stories, and I occasionally thought about a career as a novelist, but not once did I consider that dream to ever become a reality.
Several years ago, after my children were grown, my daughter challenged me to write a novel. I began a sweet, Amish fiction story about a young girl—but about halfway into the story, someone was almost murdered! Needless to say, I was surprised, but kept going. Once done, I went back to the beginning to do a major re-write on what was now an Amish suspense novel.
And that’s . . . the rest of the story.
I’m also excited to be doing two special giveaways — 1) a gift bag full of treats and 2) an advanced reader digital copy of Christmas Cookie Mystery (but you’ll have to wait for it)!
In the meantime, here’s the recipe for those delicious blueberry cupcakes
Blueberry Cupcakes

1/3 cup oil
1 1/3 cup water

Prepare cake mix according to the directions. Add blueberries and fold into batter. Bake following instructions on cake mix box.
Icing1 cup confectioner’s sugar
2 tbsp. milk
additional milk as needed

DirectionsPrepare icing, mixing small amounts of confectioner’s sugar with milk to desired consistency. Spread onto cooled cupcakes.

Uninvited by Lysa Terkeurst

Have you ever felt the gnawing sense that you didn't belong somewhere? Like somehow you weren't invited or apart of something? Have you ever felt left out, but knew their was a purpose in mind for you? If you're anything life me and Lysa, every woman has felt this way. Thank goodness, someone had the courage to say it out loud what we've all been thinking and feeling for so long! In her latest book Uninvited, Lysa has the courage to take readers into a place where I think a lot of authors aren't willing to go for fear of taking a risk of showing how to be vulnerable. She shares her heart without being preaching and is down right authentic. She is painful honest about her own life experiences, which is great to read as a reader. She doesn't make it up and while it can be hard to read, it also lets the reader know, she has some garbage too.

I would have loved to come face to face with her regarding a few topics because I am not sure that we stand on the same page, and I'm not sure that we don't, but I would love to hash out some stuff with her because writing and talking have very different perspectives. Overall, her perspectives on loneliness, rejection and forgiveness are something that as a culture, especially with women, we don't talk about.

I highlighted all over this book and it is one I highly recommend taking in pieces as it has good wisdom with solid biblical foundation. Starting September 6 there is going to be an online Bible study and you should be apart of it! I encourage you to get on Proverbs 31 to check on the Uninvited Bible Study.

Thank you to the author and publisher for providing me a complimentary copy for review purposes. I was not compensated for a positive review. I give this book 5/5 stars.

Service Tails by Ace Collins

Service Tails

Heart-tugging true stories of the courage, faith, and loyalty of remarkable service dogs.
Not all heroic dogs wildly toss themselves into lifesaving situations. Some save lives simply by their incredible commitment to duty and service. Some lead the way to independence for people whose disabilities were supposed to limit their lives.
In Service Tails: More Stories of Man’s Best Hero, prolific author Ace Collins introduces us to leaders whose entire lives are wrapped in the banner of service. Their stories are remarkable snapshots of the value of vision and teamwork, as well as devotion to duty and unconditional love and acceptance–stretching the way we see both canine and human potential. Their training was intense, their loyalty unquestioned and each step of the way they constantly adapt to better serve those they lead. These unforgettable dogs are more than heroes; they are models from which we can learn how to love and serve unconditionally.

My Thoughts:
In the book of "Service Tales", author Ace Collin tells some of the best hero stories of dogs around. These stories will melt your heart if you love animals, especially dogs. They are unforgettable tales of how dogs truly are loyal, love and are devoted to the individual they serve. My favorite story was the one of Becky who started an organization and used dogs to guide the blind. Their are countless stories of how these remarkable service dogs allow individuals with disabilities to maintain their independence. This book can be read as a devotional as the chapters are not super long. I give this book 5/5 stars. Thank you to the publishers for providing me a complimentary copy for review.

Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist

Book Description

Instead of pushing for perfection
A few years ago, I found myself exhausted and isolated, my soul and body sick. I was tired of being tired, burned out on busy. And, it seemed almost everyone I talked with was in the same boat: longing for connection, meaning, depth, but settling for busy.
I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor, writer, and I know all too well that settling feeling. But over the course of the last few years, I’ve learned a way to live, marked by grace, love, rest, and play. And it’s changing everything.
Present Over Perfect is an invitation to this journey that changed my life. I’ll walk this path with you, a path away from frantic pushing and proving, and toward your essential self, the one you were created to be before you began proving and earning for your worth.
Written in Shauna’s warm and vulnerable style, this collection of essays focuses on the most important transformation in her life, and maybe yours too: leaving behind busyness and frantic living and rediscovering the person you were made to be. Present Over Perfect is a hand reaching out, pulling you free from the constant pressure to perform faster, push harder, and produce more, all while maintaining an exhausting image of perfection.
Shauna offers an honest account of what led her to begin this journey, and a compelling vision for an entirely new way to live: soaked in grace, rest, silence, simplicity, prayer, and connection with the people that matter most to us.
In these pages, you’ll be invited to consider the landscape of your own life, and what it might look like to leave behind the pressure to be perfect and begin the life-changing practice of simply being present, in the middle of the mess and the ordinariness of life.

My Thoughts:
I can't say enough good things about this book! This book is one of those books that is so relatable and real to life that you can't help but cry, nod and just say "yes" to everything that Shauna says. I can relate to so many of the seasons she has been going through and I feel like this book speaks deep to my soul. It is an invitation to leave a world of crazy demands to something more simple. Its taking the world of yoga pants and putting pajamas on at bed at night. It's learning the art of rest and being in the moment. She takes us into learning how to be present. I love this book and will read it again! I highly recommend this book to anyone. I give this book 5/5 stars.  Thank you to the publishers for providing me a complimentary copy for review.

Finding Father Christmas/ Engaging Father Christmas by Robin Jones Gunn

In FINDING FATHER CHRISTMAS, Miranda Carson's search for her father leads her unexpectedly to London with only a few feeble clues as to who he might be. Immediately welcomed into a family that doesn't recognize her, and whom she's quickly coming to love, she faces a terrible decision. Should she reveal her true identity and destroy their idyllic image of her father? Or should she carry the truth home with her to San Francisco and remain alone in this world? Whatever choice she makes during this London Christmas will forever change the future for both herself and the family she can't bear to leave.

In ENGAGING FATHER CHRISTMAS Miranda Carson can't wait to return to England for Christmas and to be with her boyfriend, Ian. She has spent a lifetime yearning for a place to call home, and she's sure Carlton Heath will be it, especially when a hinted-at engagement ring slips into the conversation. But Miranda's high hopes for a jolly Christmas with the small circle of people she has come to love are toppled when Ian's father is hospitalized and the matriarch of the Whitcombe family withholds her blessing from Miranda. Questions run rampant in Miranda's mind about whether she really belongs in this cheery corner of the world. Then, when her true identity threatens all her relationships in unanticipated ways, Miranda is certain all is lost. And yet . . . maybe Father Christmas has special gifts in store for her after all.

My Thoughts:

Robin Jones Gunn is my favorite author and has been since I was a teenager. I was super thrilled at the opportunity to review Finding Father Christmas and Engaging Father Christmas. This book has Novels in one book, which is awesome at the price of $14.99. You can't beat that. Second, who doesn't love two Christmas stories in England? Grab a blanket, your favorite cup of tea and curl up for a great review.

In Finding Father Christmas, Miranda Carson lost her father at a young age. Having never known anything about him, Miranda didn't really think much about him until she showed a photograph of her father to her boyfriend. The two discover where the photograph was taken. Miranda finds herself in London in a teashop, in a small village, where she meets a woman and that is where Miranda's life changes. Without giving spoilers about what happens next, you need to pick up the book for yourself, but I guarantee you will love it! Will she find her father or won't she? I will say you do need to read Engaging Father Christmas to see what happens next. I give a 5/5 stars for Finding Father Christmas!

Let's pick up on Engaging Father Christmas, which is part two of this book.  Miranda returns to England where Miranda learns the gift of family isn't just by blood. You will love the characters in this story and the strength that this family brings to Miranda, especially as a family member is in the hospital. Will this test the relationship of Ian and Miranda? Will they have a falling out? Or will love triumph over all? I couldn't wait to see what would happen and this second novel I could not put down. This was a great Christmas romance that I loved for so many reasons, but I do not want to spoil the book for you.  This is such a refreshing read. It was very sweet and christmasy! I highly recommend it! I give this 5/5 stars as well.

Thank you to Faith Words for providing me a complimentary copy for review purposes only. I was not compensated for a positive review.

Additionally, Robin Jones Gunn will be releaseing Kissing Father Christmas, which I cannot wait to read. I hope it is as great as these two books are! To find out more information and to purchase this book on pre-order, head here!
