The best way I can describe, And It Was the Beautiful, the legacy that Kara left and the faith she lived is- a gift. To be honest, I wasn't thrilled about reading this book. A part of me didn't want it to be true. I didn't want her to be gone. How can you grieve someone who you don't even know, but has affected your life in such a way that the finality of a book seems painful?
Following her blog posts, her story, her friends and even her families lives, I felt in some small way I knew her and yet, I didn't. She spoke truths with grace; she made me laugh, and while I wasn't ready to say goodbye, it happened. I think she is the type of person that walks into someone's heart, and you don't soon forget. Her words resonate with your soul. She is brave, honest and authentic. She talks about the messy, the beautiful, the funny and the pain.
She talks about how when her husband, Jason is out of laundry how he has one pair of underwear left and then she knows it's time to do laundry. No words need to be spoken.
Or the letter she writes to her uterus saying so long.
And who couldn't love her honesty when she is concerned about a cancer medication being covered by insurance. Later Kara says the funniest thing, and the exact thing that resonates with us in our home " I told her she sure knows how to make medicine feel like a bargain." After agreeing to cover $300 for medication with the nurse on the other end of the phone. By the way, the insurance company decided to pick up the $14,000 medication.
And It was Beautiful, is a gift full of truth, wisdom and beautiful moments of life to remember, cherish and a life to be grateful.
This book is so beautiful, I didn't want it to begin, and I didn't want it to end. I don't like saying this was an excellent book because this is the story of someone's beautiful life and it feels wrong to say that, so I will say this, pick up this book because it is a gift. A gift that is life-giving, one you won't forget, something that will make you cry, laugh and remember. This book is beautiful. Kara lived life beautifully, and I hope the glimpse you received from this book will allow you to see life in a different way.
I can't sum up this book in words.
How can you sum up someone's life?
It is a gift.
It is beautiful
