Today, we will be looking at a book for your Holiday gift giving pleasure! Many of you know Christmas is right around the corner and what better way to say Merry Christmas in giving wonderful books to children. I had the privilege and opportunity of reviewing Countdown to Christmas days of the Jess Tree Tradition
"The Jesse Tree" is a small Christmas tree with paper ornaments on it. Each ornaments has a picture from a different person in the Bible like Mary,Gideon, Joseph, etc. This tree represents the family of Jesus. This book is an awesome way for kids to learn about Jesus through the story of the "Jesse Tree" which was cut down. Countdown to Christmas is a great way for children to be involved in learning the lineage and history of Christ. This paper back book goes through each day till Christmas with a different story of the Bible with full and bright pictures and then an ornament that can be hung on the tree. The ornament already has a hole made, so you only need to place a ribbon or string through it to hang it on a tree. These are made out of thicker material, but if you wanted to use them over again, I might recommend laminating them or having your children be careful with them as I could see this being used for years to come as a tradition. This reminds me of "The Greatest Gift" by Ann Voskamp, which is my personal yearly tradition, which is now starting to lose some of its binding because I love reading it.
Check out this great youtube video!
I think this is a great way to instill scripture and biblical teaching in your children or grandchildren and a fun tradition to have at Christmas to celebrate the Kings birth. I highly recommend this beautiful book full of great color.
