Showered for a Bride to Be

This weekend my sister-in-law had a bridal shower. It was a lot of fun.
The yummy food, which was great! Of course I loved the purple because purple is my favorite color.
All of chatting, family and friends gathered in the name of the bride!
My sisters law played this game called how well do you know the groom? Every time she got an answer right, she got a $1 and every time she got it wrong, she had to chew a piece of gum. Eventually, she had a wad of gum she was chewing on, but it was fun to watch!

Whitney got lots of beautiful gifts from friends and family for her new life.
Finally, here are some of the bridesmaids in Whitney's Wedding! Aren't they adorable?

Q: What did you do this weekend?

Ten Ways to be JOYFUL in a SAD world

The Back of the book:
A unique combination of biblical teaching, scientific research, and personal biography shows those who follow Jesus how to live joyful, purposeful lives.
Hopelessness has invaded much of our culture, even reaching deep into the church. But while the world is awash in negativity, Christians have resources to live differently.
In The Happy Christian, professor and pastor David Murray blends the best of modern science and psychology with the timeless truths of Scripture to create a solid, credible guide to positivity. The author of the acclaimed Christians Get Depressed Too, Murray exposes modern negativity's insidious roots and presents ten perspective-changing ways to remain optimistic in a world that keeps trying to drag us down.
The Happy Christian invites readers to shed negativity and become countercultural missionaries by demonstrating the positive power of the gospel in their lives.

My Review:
In our daily living, we can either choose JOY or we can choose to taken out by the stuff we see in the news. The choice is ours! However, our life isn't easy and I'm not even going to pretend it is because I know it is extremely difficult. I LOVE how each chapter teaches us how to take something that could be sad and spins it into something happy in an optimistic way. The world can really drag us down. The book talks about topics such as the media, guilt, feelings, the past, sin criticism and many more, but spins them in a positive way. Here is the thing, I found that I am harder on myself and I am my worse critic. Can I can an AMEN? Are ya'll with me? Are you you're worse critic? I found myself thinking, I am so focused on the NEGATIVE and not the positive. WHAT is WRONG with me!!! This book was a game changer! I highly recommend it. Thank you Thomas Nelson!

Gazelle Girl Half Marathon

There is nothing like running a race that is made for women sponsored by Nike and hosted by our local running store. I was super pumped to run this half marathon, okay maybe pumped wasn't the right word, THRILLED!

I was also trying to tell myself this was just another training run for Riverbank coming up in May. Since that is the largest 25k in the country, I am really trying to save my speed and endurance for that beast.

I will say I was disappointed with my time, but given everything my body and things that I have gone through as of lately in my life, overall, I am happy to have finished standing up, and my pace didn't completely tank like I thought it should have.

Plus, the winds were awful and it wasn't a day for PR's or at least not for me and not for many people. Either way, it was a nice race for women, it was a great course and I had a lot of fun.

I loved having the support of a great friend, LeAnn and my hubby! LeAnn was waiting for me at the finish when I was ready to lose it. I got sick on the course, dehydrating out and well, it was just not my day, but I was determined that I would finish! Plus, we had some great cheerleaders and awesome signage!

In tomorrows post, I will be talking about a mishap or something that my body is still trying to recover from and what I am doing to correct it, ASAP! Stay tuned!

The Bling & Shirt, which I work to work Monday!

Q: Did you run any races this weekend? Did you follow the Boston coverage?

Sarah resolves to remain at Fort Laramie and try to win Rand back. But things will get tougher before they get easier . . . especially when her ex-fiancé Ben Croftner arrives in Wyoming, obsessed with having her back in his arms.
My Review:
heartsobsession-400This was the second novella in the Journey of The Heart Series and it was better than part 1. Faced with Indians, a journey out west, Ex-FiancĂ© Ben willing to go to great lengths to win Sarah's love and Rand who is promised to another woman, will Sarah find love with Rand or will she continue to fight for his heart?  This is a great book and I highly recommend it! It is a great read! You will read it super fast!

Sunny Days!

Happy Tuesday!
Michigan is finally starting to warm up and the weather is absolutely beautiful here. I could not be more thrilled to have such warm weather. It has been perfect to take walks and runs outside. Sunday was perfect for a 6 mile run.
Last week, I spend a great deal of time in Nashville, Tennessee.  It was a blast and I found myself really wanting to move there. I will post more pictures and lots of stories in the upcoming days and
weeks.
While on vacation, I enjoyed so many books and spent a great deal of time reading. One of those books is written by Karen Kingsbury entitled, "Chasing Sunsets."

This book is about Mary Catherine who pursues a life through giving back, but has difficulty trusting men with her heart. She volunteers at a local youth center and meets Marcus Dillinger. He is the LA Dodgers famous pitcher. She begins to find herself falling for him, but an unexpected turn takes place causing her to make a difficult decision. Will she find love or will her heart be closed off forever?
This book had me in chapter 1 and I was hooked. You'll fall in love with the charcters and won't be able to put it down.

Thank you to Howard Books! I received this copy for review purposes only and was not compensated for a positive review.

What books are yall reading? Are you enjoying this beautiful weather?
