Eden Christiansen never imagined her role as her younger brother Owen’s cheerleader would keep her on the sidelines of her own life. Sure, it feels good to be needed, but looking after the reckless NHL rookie leaves little time for Eden to focus on her own career. She dreamed of making a name for herself as a reporter, but is stuck writing obits—and starting to fear she doesn’t have the chops to land a major story. If only someone would step up to mentor Owen . . . but she knows better than to expect help from team veteran and bad-boy enforcer Jace Jacobsen.
Jace has built his career on the infamous reputation of his aggressive behavior—on and off the ice. Now at a crossroads about his future in hockey, that reputation has him trapped. And the guilt-trip he’s getting from Eden Christiansen isn’t making things any easier. But when Owen’s carelessness leads to a career-threatening injury and Eden stumbles upon a story that could be her big break, she and Jace are thrown together . . . and begin to wonder if they belong on the same team after all.
Chapter 1 really confused me, not gonna lie. I think it was confusing to me because this is book #2 to this series and It may have helped me to read book one, however after read the entire book, I realize that the author did a great job at making this a stand alone novel. You need to read the first novel, but I am sure it would help and I will because I did love this book so much. I love how the author really crafted each character. If you put Eden and Jace in the same room with one another, you would not see them as a couple, less of a match for one another, but the Susan really take the reader on a journey and thats what I love. Eden doesn't want to even be around Jace because she has this perception of him based on his hockey career and the way the media has painted him to be. However, I feel like I am already giving too much of the story away, so I am going to stop myself right now! This book is a page turner, one that will make you laugh, cry, hate Jace and love him all in the same night! It's a good book. You will meet other characters too, just READ THE BOOK ! I was given a review copy from Tyndale House Publishers. This is my honest review and I was not compensated for a positive revew. 5/5 star for me! I am super excited and cannot wait to read the next book in the series! To learn more about the author or purchase a copy, go here!
