Running + WDW training+ Mistakes

As you know, we are running the WDW marathon in January! We are stoked! However, for my husband, this running thing is something he has never done, nor attempted.

On Saturday, our schedule said we needed to run 9 miles, which mentally I was prepared for, but physically not so much... Let me tell you several mistakes I made, ones I know better not to make, but I didn't realize how tough it was going to be..


1) I didn't properly hydrate a couple of days before. I can blame that on several things, I had a migraine on Thursday evening, was exhausted from school, did refuel and rest Friday.

2) Did not eat the right kinds of food. Friday night after the sunset, we went out to Red Robin for burgers and fries.. Not the best kind of food to run on.. Simple carbs are better so the body can break it down for fuel.

3) It was very hot out and we should have gotten up a lot earlier than we did..

All in all, I am proud we both finished. Our time wasn't swell, but at this point, we just need to get the mileage in and keep going.. Next Saturday, our run will not be so long.. I am excited for a shorter run...

My next half-marathon is in less than a month now! I took last week off running to give myself a break after the Reykjavik Half but I'm back at it this week! Good job on getting the 9 miles done even though it was rough :)


So awesome! I can't wait to run a Disney half marathon and hope to in late 2013! Good for you for going for it! Erica
