Last Sunday, in the blizzard of Michigan, my husband was baptized. Literally, we had so much snow (8inch+), I was concerned our families would NOT make it to church, to see Drew baptized. The snow was so symbolic for baptism. Being baptized is a way for an individual to publicly confess their faith and a confession of repentance. It's a burial of the old person, shaking off the things of this world and living in NEW life. It's a cleansing of the heart, mind and spirit. Isaiah 1:18 says " come now, let us reason together, " says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool".(NIV)
(What an awesome picture)
The fact that it was snowing and blizzard weather, was a great reminder of God's goodness. The fresh fallen snow is a reminder that he can take our ugly sins and wash them as white as snow. What a beautiful picture of God's forgiveness.
