Over the past two months, I have been very busy trying to pack in Christmas parties, family gatherings, runs, blog posts, cleaning, lesson plans, creating and hours on surfing the web.
After some great examination and sermons from our church, I am on a facebook fast, and now discovering what it means to take a Sabbath. I have become bogged down my things that I have to do, the expectations I need to meet, the demands of people, which has allowed me to stop enjoying life and become so focused on the things I need to accomplish. This has left me feeling empty, resentful, restless, angry, overspent, emotionally drained and irritable.
Sunday , I took a partial Sabbath and it was wonderful. I went to church with Drew, we went to Panera and then took the rest of the day and just enjoyed doing nothing. It was wonderful. Sometimes you need those days where you completely disconnect from the world and just enjoy life.
If you’re feeling out of balance, in need of a break, why not trying to take a Sabbath? If you have taken a Sabbath before, what does it look like for you?
