First, I have to say Harvest House Publishers is such an awesome publishing company! I love that all of their books are Christian and have a message that leads people to Christ.
I had the opportunity to review Getting and Stay Organized written by Karen Ehman. Karen is the mother of 3 children and she lives in MICHIGAN! Awesome!
This book has so many great chapters. Two of my favorites are Kicking out the Clutter and Combating over-commitment.
How many of us are over-crowded with clutter? Clutter is so easy to accumulate and easy to shove in the back closet. Sometimes we hold on to things for sentimental reasons or out of guilt, but I have learned that clutter holds bondage on my life. I have learned that when I find clutter, I need to de-clutter or else I feel held by stuff. I don't know how to explain it, but I love the chapter on Kicking out Clutter!
I am so guilty of this next one.. I love to have my hand in many different baskets. I am a person who gets over-committed. If I was to be honest, I get involved in many things because I have a hard time saying "no". I am afraid if I say "no" people will not like me or think less of me. Wow. I can't believe I just said all of that. This chapter allowed me to gain clarity on how I always find myself over-committed.
This book also has great information on managing your time, organizing your home, planning menus, shopping more efficiently, becoming creative in the kitchen and getting your kids more involved in the organized process.
The authors intentions are to help the reader become more efficient in organization, which will allow the reader to spend more intentional time with God. Love this book!
