Storm plays Ketchup

I know it has been about a week since I have blogged. I apologize for that, but I have been on vacation once again soaking up the good life! The girls and I went for a little vacation to the Great Wolf lodge. We were gone Monday- Wednesday. Thursday & Friday I had been babysitting the Marchek kiddo's. Yesterday and Today I have been scrapping.

I have finally started to scrap our wedding pictures. It has taken me a long time to gather all the pictures, mementos and wedding planning items.
Here is the page I worked on today. Hopefully, they won't all take this long, but this one was special to me. It was the "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue." This page was a lot of fun, but I spent a lot of time typing all of this on each page, but I hope the next wedding scrapbook pages go quicker..

Storm has a little baby Moe

My dear Andrea is rather pregnant and glowing! She looks so beautiful and you can tell she is so excited to be a mommy!!

I think she looks so beautiful in these pictures and she didn't know I was taking them, which is even better....  Look at the cute Belly!!

Did you know Andrea is having a boy? She will not tell anyone the name of her baby, so I call him Moe.. I know his name start's with an M... I am almost sure of this.. She won't even give me a hint, so I call him "Moe."

All of us girls... Wishing Katrina was here for this picture, but am so glad the three of us could get together with Andrea.. It was such good fellowship.. .I am so glad to see all my SAU girls!! It is so wonderful!!

Dave, you better watch out! Kelsey really loved to hold Elijah and I think she wants a baby, so watch out...

Erin made some yummy and beautiful cupcakes.. They were so delicious and had cookie dough in the middle of them.. Yum.. I am still thinking of how yummy they are now..

Andrea is opening baby gifts for Moe and Kelsey is her secretary.. So cute.... Love those two!!

Happy Baby Shower Moe and we are so thrilled to see you in September. I am hoping you come out soon because Mom is starting to become uncomfortable, but when you come out, you got lots of people who will love you... So excited to celebrate "Moe" baby day!

Enemies of the Heart

Andy Stanley who is a pastor and founder of North Point Ministries has written a new book called Enemies of the Heart. This book talks about four specific emotions; guilt, anger, greed and jealousy. Andy talks about these four emotions to be responsible for undesirable acts that we as Christians commit. In the book he explores each of these emotions and how they influence the daily lives of the human race. These four emotions have the power to build or destroy relationships with others. They have the power to destroy families, homes, friendships and careers if not explored/ challenged.  This book talks about how our heart reflects our real emotions and feelings. The heart is the wellspring of our life and often we hide stuff in our heart, but don't realize how those feelings actually play out in our words, actions and deeds towards others.

This book has a six week discussion guide too and would be great for a small group bible study. I am spending a lot of time understanding my anger, guilt, greed and jealousy. This book will open up your eyes for sure. This gets a 5/5 stars for me! Thanks to Waterbrook Multnomah for a free review copy. They did not compensate me for my review. This is my honest opinion.

Storm's Sweet Sanctuary

I have to tell you about this new book that I am reading.. Oh, I so love it.. Many of you may be familiar with Shelia Walsh. She is best know and recognized as a "Women of Faith" author. Anyways, she wrote this new book called "Sweet Sanctuary" and I think you might really relate to it..

Wren, a single mother tries to meet the needs of her son, Charlie by working in a small town library. Her grandmother shows up at her door steps and wants to plan a family reunion. Wren has a difficult time trying to balance all the different areas in her life. As she works hard to put her son through music school, she has not seen or heard from Charlies dad in ten years. Suddenly, her ex-husband shows up wanting to get to know Charlie. While all of this is going on, Wren has to learn that we don't always know the plans God has for each storm we face in life.  This book has reminded me that God is in control and that we have to let him be the one to steer the boat. This book was a great reminder no matter how big or small, God is in control and he is going to use each situation to help us grow, trust and love more... Great book.

Book sneeze provided me this complimentary book and did not compensate me for a positive review. I would give this 4 out of 5 stars.

Storm's Mixed Emotions

This afternoon I feel a bunch of mixed emotions. First, I found out that I did not get the School Social Worker job at Wayland Union Schools. While initially I fell disappointed, frustrated and upset, I also feel relieved.

These mixed emotions come from this huge emotion pool that I have been dealing with... I am disappointed because as Drew and I try to move forward in paying off our student loans, we can't pay them off as quickly as we could if I made more money. Unfortunately, Drew's salary won't be increasing anytime soon, so the pressure is on for me to find a job that pays more money. Now, I don't want to sound ungrateful or that I am complaining. Let me say, I am completely grateful for my job and my husbands... We both are so thankful to have jobs! However, we both would feel the weight of debt leave us if we could pay them off quicker.. We are doing the best we can, with what we have..

In some way, I am relieved I did not get the school social worker job because I love the people I work with. I love the kids I work with and I am invested into the district I serve. While I do not get benefits and do not make a high wage, I love where I work. I also love that they have been the people who have been so supportive during this medical mess of my life. It is nice that I do not need to start over and that I have such supportive people in my district who care about me.. Or at least I think they do......

Also, I am highly thankful and able to say the ovarian cyst that they found, did burst.... Which is great, but explains a lot of my pain last month. I am praying and hoping nothing returns, especially since I am not on birth control anymore...

Thanks for all the prayers, well wishes and support... I have just needed it so badly during this hard time.

Storm's Worry

I probably worry a lot more than one should.. I am a big worry wart.. Why? I don't know.. I think it has gotten worse, as I have gotten older....

When we were in Disney, I bought a bracelet that said " Don't even Tink about It." This bracelet is a constant reminder not to worry so much... I lose sleep over worrying.. I know what the Bible says about worrying, but I have a hard time stopping my racing thoughts.. Are you a worrier?

You might ask "What are you so worried about?" My response:  I am worried about the job interview I had today. While it wasn't the worst interview, I feel very much on the fence about how I interviewed. I couldn't have done anything to prepare myself, I know that if its right, than God will work out the details. At the same time, I don't know that it is a right fit for me either. I pray that God will direct the steps of this because for the first time I don't have a gut feeling or intuition that will help direct my mind...

Now that I have that off my chest..... I have one more item of business and then maybe I can join my snoring husband and get some sleep........

As you may have found out... the MRI was completely NORMAL!!!   Great!!! However, it doesn't entirely explain the seizures, however a family member has come forward and has explained to me that two of the woman in my family have had seizures directly relating to hormonal shifts, birth control and menstruation. (Sorry guys!! Gotta get it off my mind)..  In females, one can have permanent brain irritation due to birth control pills because of the hormonal shift that occurs.... Luckily for me, I am stopping my birth control pills, without my doctors consent, which I may get in trouble, may not.. Not sure...

However, I had a cyst on one of my ovaries, so the birth control was supposed to reduce that problem. Tomorrow (Wed), I go in for anther pelvic ultrasound (so uncomfortable) to see if the cyst has gotten smaller or I will have to get it removed.. Most women continue to develop these unless they have their ovaries or are no longer ovulating...

After all this thinking.. I wonder if the seizures are a direct result of the ovarian cysts or a direct result of too much or too little estrogen or a huge shift in my hormones? If this is a the case or would be the case for the rest of my life, would it better to get rid of my female organs???  Stop the hormones??? You have hormone shifts for most of your life.. .Till like 50??? Worry wart me says... Who has the answers to this??
According to my Aunt, I need to go to Mayo Clinic and be completely looked at... Sigh.....

Just some thoughts... I need to get my worrying done... Now, I might be able to sleep..

The Storm who has an interview

Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. I have an interview with Wayland Union Public Schools for either a part-time or Full-time Social Work position.

I could use prayer not for about "getting the job" (Which would be great too), but that it would be the right fit for my current life circumstance.. I need understanding, loving and supportive people.. Could use the prayer...
Thanks friends!

1st Year Anniversary to a Storm

As Drew and I have been through our first year of marriage, a lot has happened both big and small in our lives. Some things have been better than others, but each challenged has helped us grow stronger.
In April, we booked a trip for Disney World in celebrating our 1st Year Anniversary. After paying off some student loan debt and all the never ending medical expenses, we decided we needed to do something for us.... So.. How about a trip to Disney World? All of which was Drew's idea.....

We took over a thousand pictures and I believe it was our best trip ever.. We both look forward to the next trip, which will not be for a couple of years, but for now we will remember all the memories that we made..

Make a wish and do as dreamers do..... Then all your wishes... Will come ... True...

Storm meets the Famous Emily Maynard

If you have watched the past season of the Bachelor, you know that Brad Womack fell in love with Emily Maynard, a sweet southern woman with a little girl, Rickie.

While in Disney World, I spotted Emily and Rickie. When Drew and I were walking past the Teacup ride, I passed her and did a double take because I wasn't sure, but I thought it was her because of her white teeth.  Drew told me to go check and see if it really was her, especially since she was with a Disney worker... We had to find out if it was her. We watched her get on the Teacups and then I knew it was definately her.
Emily and Rickie on Tea Cups

After she got off the ride, I went up to her asked if she was "Emily from the Bachelor" and wondering if she would take a picture... She said "yes" and I was star struck... Drew and I have talked about famous people being at Disney, but I have never seen someone, until this trip.

In person, she is very sweet, super pretty and so nice... It was so cool to finally meet someone famous.. Here is my picture with her...

What I'm Reading: The Final Hour

If you enjoy high crime, suspense and action then the Homelander series is for you. The story of Final Hour is about a young teenage boy, Charlie West who finds himself in Jail. One minute he was a teenager who felt alone, despite struggling to do the right thing and then next time he knows he is in jail with a recollection of a memory about a terrorist attack that soon will occur and if he doesn't do anything, millions of people will die and he will have the guilt of knowing that he could have stopped it.

The final book, Final Hour allows closure to the entire series and the reader will find out if Charlie will succeed or have to live the rest of his life as an enemy of America filled with guilt and regret.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes fast pace or action books.

I received  this book from Book Sneeze. I was not required to write a positive review for this book, and I was not compensated in any ways for this.

What I'm Reading: God's Love Letters to You

Dr. Larry Crabb wrote God's Love Letters to You as a 40 Day Devotional Experience that invites you to spend time with the Savior, which takes about 5 minutes per day. It is a short devotional that starts in Genesis and ends in Revelation. At the end of each devotional, there is a section on reflection and prayer time. This is a great devotional that is simple, but allows one to further and deepen their relationship with the Lord.  Great for a women's Bible Study...

This book was provide from book sneeze. This was my oponion and I was not compensated for this review.

What I'm Reading: Never the Bride

Never the Bride is a novel full of humor about Jessie Stone who has never been the bride, but always the Bridesmaid. This book reminded me some what of 27 Dresses with the exception that when Jessie had failed relationships time and time again she finally allowed God to write her love story, it was better than she could ever expect. The interesting part about this book is that God shows up in human flesh, which can make this story a bit confusing to the reader at times, but overall I think this book has a good message about allowing God to be the author of one's life.
This wasn't a favor book of mine and I probably would not buy this book, but rent it from the library. I would give this book three stars.

This book was given to me from Multnomah Water Brook Publishing company for my honest review. They did not compensate me for this book and this is my honest review.
