What I'm Reading: Departures

"Departures" is book of two stories between the famous Christy Miller and Sierra Jensen. I have always been a huge Christy Miller fan and have recently read all of the Sierra Jensen collection. "Now boarding Gate 10" is about Christy after she graduates from Highschool. The main part of the story sets place when Chirsty goes to Wisconsin to visit her family and celebrate her grandparents 50th wedding aniversary. Shortly later, she meets up with Matthew, her elementary crush. During this time, Christy spend a great deal of time reflecting on her relationships and her relationship with the Lord.

"In the Event of a Water Landing" is about Sierra summer vacations and as with anything, Sierra is always up for an adventure. Jana, Sierra's friend invites her to go along on a camping trip to Montana. Jana wants to spend a lot of time with the boys and really wants a boyfriend. Sierra just wants to hang out as friends. Their friendship is hindered by Jana's sudden interest in boys and relationships. Will their friendship stand Janna's romantic interest in boys? I would recommend this story to young tweens or teenagers.

I would recommend reading all of the Christy Miller and Sierra Jensen stories before reading this book or the reader may be confused. Excellent job Robin! Your books are always fantastic.

Ovarian Cysts

Yesterday, I received word from my doctors office that I have large ovarian cysts on my left ovary. Finally, we have some answers, but we do not know if we are in the clear yet. Because of the inconsistency of my passing out episodes (every other month), we have to decided to further go through the rest of the brain and heart testing to eliminate brain tumors and seizures. While the idea of the rest of the testing doesn't thrill me, it is necessary in order to play by the doctors games. If all of these tests return normal, then we know it is the cyst that is causing these weird epsiodes.
I will continue to update you!

The roles we play in life, do not define who we are, but are a piece of who we become. I have often defined myself by the many roles I play. I am learning to take a step back from the roles I play and to stop defining myself by what I do. Role are a part of our life, but it is not who we are.

What roles do you play?

It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown

How many of you ever watched Charlie Brown as  child?
Personally, I loved Snoopy, the black and white dog. I thought he was just adorable and I especially liked his friend Woodstock. I have always been a fan of the Holiday Movies; Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown wants a Dog for Christmas,  You're In Love and Charlie Brown's Christmas (My favorite).

This afternoon we went on a mission to find "It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown" and waiting the day before Easter isn't exactly recommended. Although we had a heck of a time, I am proud to say we were are the proud of owners of a copy. This was my Easter Gift from Drew, but the best Easter gift is not found in a movie,  decorating eggs or Easter candy, but that the Tomb is empty and HE is Risen.

While I enjoy traditions Easter Brings, I am reminded that Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice on the cross for our sins. I am reminded and grateful for eternal life, salvation and forgiveness. May you find many reasons to feel blessed this Easter season.

Life, Anxiety and the deeper side of things

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have been a ball of anxiety lately. First, let me catch you up on a bunch of medical jargon. Over the next three weeks, I will undergo 5 doctors appointments and four huge tests. As you can imagine, I AM FREAKING OUT!!!

I am hoping or more of these tests reveal the true reason why I pass out every other month. I am hoping we can find a solution though some of these tests. I am tired of being worried and unsure of what is to come next. I have been a big ball of nerves, not to mention googling everything imaginable with my odd symptoms in order to diagnosis myself, which is never a good thing. I think something is huey with my hormones, but nothing has been confirmed or denied. We have to do a bunch of big tests, to rule out the big things and then we might need to get down to the nitty, gritty. I am frustrated and ready for this to be all done.

I am tired of taking time off from work and frustrated about re-scheduling appointments. I can only hope we find answers and I can then live a more normal life, with less anxiety.

I panic all the time and often am parnoid about the little things that happen in fear because I am afraid something is seriously wrong. Sighs.

What I'm Reading: Unleashed

“Unleashed” written by Erwin McManus inspires readers to live a life that follows Christ with reckless abandon or to live the “Barbarian” way. Mc Manus states, the “Barbarian way” is to give your heart to God, who can make you fully alive, with an untamed faith. He describes this as a narrow journey that only few will take, but it will lead you to a life completely unleashed. This book is a very quick read and easily can be read in one sitting. One of my favorite quotes “ the driving purpose behind this barbarian revolt is to liberate every person who longs to find freedom in God.”  How many of us long to find freedom in God? We must remove all the junk that keeps us from God in order to do so. Television, internet, inappropriate movies, language, lust, it all keeps us from living a life unleashed, we must remove every obstacle that hinders us.

This book gave me a good dose of reality and helped me looked at areas in my life where I need to remove obstacles because they are hindrance. I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to live faith out in a different way or to anyone who is seeking of living the cookie cutter Christian life. This will change your entire perspective. It won’t be easy to live a life like this and Jesus doesn’t promise any easy life, but an abundant one, unleashed.

Fretful Storm

I worry.
Sometimes about minor things and sometimes earth shattering things.
I worry about the stability of my unstable job.
I panic thinking I won't find another, if the economy continues in a downward spiral.
I fret about draining our life savings to buy a used car (the bug is on the fritz).
I agonize about my fainting issues and no answers.
I'm anxious that we will buy a car, and then have severe medical debt because they will finally figure out what is wrong with me.
I'm troubled by the rising prices of food, gasoline, clothing, ect.
My concerns keep me up at night, losing sleep, losing life and worrying about things that I cannot change.

I wish I could change my circumstances, but it is out of my CONTROL and in God's hands, which makes things so difficult. As humans, it is our to trust what we cannot see, but to know that the creator has everything planned according to his will. I would be lying to say that I believe everything works out for good, I know it does, but I have a hard time believing what I cannot see.

I lack faith.
I lack trust.

Has he always provided in the past?
Will he provide in the future?

Why cannot I not let it go?

Why must I question his faithfulness?

Storms Restful, Money Making Spring Break

Over Spring Break, I have had high hopes for rest, relaxation and lots of fun. I am doing all of those things and making some mad cash. I was asked to house sit for the Jewell family and take care of their super adorable, snuggly dog, Max. He is so cute and sleeps right on me at night. It makes me want to have a dog so badly....

Also, I have been asked to babysit three days in row, which has additionally led me to some more spring break income. You might ask where is all this cash going?

Well, it is going for our 1 year anniversary trip, which I will later reveal the details and whereabouts, but for now I will leave you in wonder.
So far, I have made $230 ! I am loving this money making, spring break!

Storms Love at Last Sight

Love at Last Sight written by Kerry and Chris Shook is a 30- journey that is bound to help strengthen and discover different aspects of relationships with the people you are most closest with. Not only is this book about marriage, but a book about all kinds of different relationships and gives a step by step, day by day format guide to reconnect you in your relationships. From the get go, this book was very gripping and held my attention, especially since I have a broken relationship in an area of my life and I tend to hide it. This book has allowed me to view this broke relationship differently in hopes of mending it down the road.

Cover Image
Additionally, this book was broken up into four different sections, The Art of Being All There ,The Art of Acting Intentionally,  The Art of Risking Awkwardness and The Art of Letting Go. Each section has left me with more questions than I began and has allowed me to deeper discover relationships. Also, at the end of each day, the author has reflection questions, which allow you to go deeper. I believe this would be a very effective bible study with your husband.

Finally, I enjoy how both authors are genuine about their relationships whether successful or failure through different parts of their journey. I recommend this book to anyone because relationships are the key and importance of human existence.
I challenge you to 30 days of grow deep and strengthening your relationships with those around you.
