Storm wants to live a life without limits

Have you ever sat down and ate a ridiculously divine dessert? Have you savored the taste of each bit? When you picked up the last fork full, were you completely satisfied or craving more?

Life without Limits is like eating the most ridiculous divine desert with a savory sweet taste and wanting the last page not to end. Nick Vujicic is an extraordinary man who was born without legs or arms. I cannot even begin to fathom having no arms or legs. Seriously? Imagine never being able to pick up something off the ground or the inability to walk from room to room.  Nick has triumphed over these hurdles and lives a rich life despite these obstacles.

In his book Life without Limits, Nick talks about his own personal struggles as a child and wanting to commit suicide because he was without limbs and physically different than others. His faith in God carried him through some of the darkest moments in his life. Nick is very honest and raw about his feelings, life and struggles. You feel as if he is sitting in the chair next to you, pouring out his heart and soul, as you read his book

No matter where you are in life, this book is for you. I found myself laughing one minute and tears the next second. Nick shares in Life without Limits, several attributes to living a life filled with purpose, holding on to hope and faith, maintaining a positive attitude, stepping out courageously, be willing to accept change, become trusting of others, embrace opportunities,  developing a serving heart, and seeking/having a compete sense of purpose. Maybe you are at one of the lowest points of your life, this book is for you.  His book will bring you great joy and will encourage you to embark on a deeper journey of personal discovery, savoring every divine moment.

Nick is the director of Life without Limbs and is an international motivational speaker.  To find out more information on Nick please visit his website http://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org/

You will be inspired and encouraged as you live Life, without Limits.

Disney Marathon

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about wanting to register for the Disney Marathon. I told my readers I wanted to lose another 7.5lbs before March 15. Well, to be honest, I didn't lose the weight.
While I am slightly discouraged, I am remembering a lot has happened over the past few weeks. I have been sick, not eating healthy and not exercising as much. Life has just been a bit overwhelming this past few weeks.

I am still considering the Disney Marathon, I just need to get Drew on board. With my previous health problems of passing out, I am unsure if this is a good choice. Most would probably assume I am crazy and that is completely true. I love running and I love Disney.. What could be better? I will keep you updated!

Love Wins Storm

Drew and I have the privileged of attending Mars Hill Bible ChurchRob Bell's teachings are jaw dropping, eye opening, life inspiring messages. Rob has a great gift of communication and teaching the word of God in a new light.

Today, Rob  releases his new book "Love Wins."  Last Saturday, I spent the entire evening reading this book cover to cover before it had been released to the public. Let me tell you something, I am very challenged by his ideas and while I may not agree with everything he says, his thought provoking questions prob me to a deeper level of questioning and understanding. The book has left me uncertain about fundamental beliefs that have been grained into my head my entire life through others.  I highly recommend this book for a challenging view on Heaven, Hell, God's Love and our calling.

The book has left me with many thoughts..

i am left with more questions
than answers.

i am left wrestling
with my past.

Can redemption happen here
and now?

Is Gaundi in hell?

Is a prayer the only way?

Is the gate left open?

Are the first, now the last and the last, now the first?

i am left feeling uncomfortable....

Doesn't Jesus call us to be uncomfortable, uncertain, questioning questions, loving the unloved and bringing redemption here and now?

I know for certain, I will be reading this book again and probably again. Thanks for the challenging thoughts, views and words have left my head spinning.

Debt free for Four

As you may know, Drew and I have been working our little booties off (literally) to pay our student loans off.. While we are NOT debt free yet, we have managed to pay off Four loans totaling...... drum roll please....

$5150.00

In addition to these Four loans, we have paid off a total of $6532.56 (including those four loans) since September. I am very proud of our progress. We are just starting to pay off loan number five! The most frustrating thing about paying off loans, is all the stinken interest!!!
If we could just pay off the original loan balance, they would be paid off a lot quicker.. Guess that is what it's a loan, so the bank makes money too.. Sigh...

Four loans down, a bizzillion more to go, but we can do it.. We haven't even been married a year yet and our income is very small.. Cannot wait to see how many more we can get paid off my this September...

Birthday Celebration for Storms Mom

Every since I was a kid, Mom always made birthdays special full of surprises, balloons, cake and fun memories. My mom has been so great in taking me to the doctors when Drew has been at work. She has been a phone call away and has been willing to do whatever necessary to make sure I am okay. She is the best mom ever!

I decided we needed to do something fantastically fun to celebrate her. First, we took her out to dinner at Brann's Steak House

(Me, Rachel (my cute sister), Aubrey (Rachel's Friend), Mom at Dinner)
                                                (Mom and Laura)
(Mom blowing her candles on the Mint Oreo Cake)

Dinner was delicious and we had such a good time being girls.  After dinner we headed to Laura’s house for a special Mint Oreo Cheesecake, which by the way was to die for.. It was so yummy and I could have eaten it all for myself. Mom loved it. Nice Job Laura!!

And then the final surprise..
Spending the night at a hotel.. We blindfolded Mom.. She was a good sport and was very surprised. We spent an evening in the hot tub enjoying life together.. What a great birthday celebration.

Definately in Troubling Storms

Can I first just say... I am so frustrated and worried beyond belief!!! It is the simple things that really get my worry-some brain going.

For example, I know that God can heal my body, provide the right doctors, medication and treatment or whatever is necessary to end these passing out episodes.

However, I am having a hard time trusting him financially to see everything through. The more I don't go to work, the less pay I receive. The less amount of money I earn, is less money out of our savings, less money paying off our debt and lots more money in doctor co-pays. Please don't  get me wrong, I am very thankful to have health insurance and a job, but as you can see, it all trickles into one giant snowball.

I want to trust God on this..

I want to get out of debt.

I want to have a job that pays our bills.

I want to stop worrying.

I want the grey hair to stop coming in...( for real!!)

Drew has reminded me that no matter the cards we are dealt whether good, bad or ugly we will make it through. We are in it together and we are not alone.. I just need to remember this...

Passing out is such a bother for this Storm

As many of you may or may not remember, I have been battling dizziness, passing out and just not feeling like myself.

This evening, I have had three episodes of the passing out symptoms. Typically, I have a rush feeling in my body, I feel sick to my stomach and I cannot think consciously. It is very frustrating because it inhibits my everyday life and no one seems to have any answers. I just want to be better.....

Please, help!!

Updates to the Storm's Digs

Since Drew and I are on the path to debt free living, we do not really purchase many items for our crib. (Love that word).

We have been really NEEDING a new book shelf, but I have been to cheap to buy one. Finally, I got sick of my scrapbooks not having a shelf.  Drew is excited to start building our new book shelf.

Storm hits 15

It's true, I have now offically lost 15lbs. Each pound seems to be getting harder and harder to lose.

I am a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE (did I mention huge?) fan of Biggest Loser!!  I am also a believer in Feeding America . If you watch the The Biggest Loser you are familiar with the Pound for Pound Challenge . If you arent familiar with the pound for pound challenge, its where you pledge a pound of weight loss and one pound of food is dontated to a local food charity.

I am proud to say, that I am able to pledge 15lbs loss and 15lbs of food will be donated West Michigan Food Bank. It brings tears to my eyes to achieve the weight loss goal and know that I am helping people in need with food. What a great way to help others, while losing weight.

I encourage you to challenge yourself to lose 5lbs! (Start with something small! You will be amazed at what you are capable.) And then register for the Pound for Pound Challenge.

Storm, Andrea & Moe

Dear Friends,
I am writing to encourage you to pray for my wonderful friend, Andrea. Her husband is in the Navy and she is currently visiting him as he was scheduled to be docked for a month.
However, due to the current situation in Libya, the armed forces are going in to help. Because of the bombing that is happening over there, they are sending the Navy via ships. Many people have been placed on standby for deployment. If sent out, they will be gone 7-9 months.
As many of you may or may not know, Andrea is pregnant, with MOE! ( We don't know what she is having, I just call her baby, MOE) If Timothy is deployed, she will not see him till Christmas. Her baby is due in September 10, 2011.
Please pray for peace in Libya not only for Andrea's husband, but for the people of Libya. Also pray that Andrea will have the peace of Christ during this difficult situation, especially for her and her baby.

Storms dad hits 50

Celebrating 50 years of life, doesn't come at a small price tag. My dad has spent countless hours at a job to provide for my family, long drives to Lansing and huge sacrifices to provide. Not only has he been an awesome provider, he has been a godly role model, a kind individual and a superhero to me.

I am thankful and blessed to be able to celebrate 50 years of his life!   Happy 50th Birthday Dad! May you be blessed with more years and blessed eternally!

Avocado Storm Dip

Whenever I cook or make a new recipe, it is a BIG deal! Slowly, I am starting to enjoy the wonders of trying new recipes in order to become a better cook.

Thankfully, my husband is patient and knows if something goes wrong, we can always get take out!
My latest endeavour was this avocado dip. I have not actually purchase an avocado until this moment, nor was I really sure what an avocado was.

Ingredients:
1 avocado
1 can of Valley Fresh Natural White Chicken
1 Package of Mild Avocado Mix
1 Box of Triscut Thin Crisps
Pepper
Sea Salt

Directions:
Use a spoon to remove all of the insides of the avocado.
Put the avocado insides in a bowl.
Put half the package of the avocado seasoning packet in the bowl and stir.
Add a dash of pepper and sea salt.
Open the can of chicken. Drain all water.
Put the chicken in the bowl with avocado and mix together.
Leave in fridge for two hours.
 Eat with Triscut Thin Crisps
